Ah, I just had a look at the "settings" section of your tool and discovered that there is an option to set the language of the book manually. I'll try this later - tomorrow. Then I'll tell you what happens.

Please do. I had to change some things in that are lately and although it worked fine on my test cases, it always possible something broke.

That is strange. The change in 1.20.4 had zero to do with the Mark procedure, not even remote. You mean the edit option in the settings, right?

Yeah - that's it - I did wonder what Mark might have to do with italics and bold.

My previous selection, from Monday, was MarkRestoration.xml. After installing 1.20.4 (early Tues AM my time) I went into settings and selected MarkFinance.xml, when I clicked on Edit I had the MarkRestoration list.

Closed Word, checked the files (names, locations, and validity) and tried again, same thing. Uninstalled 1.20.4 and installed 1.20.3, I was able to select and edit MarkFinance. After using MarkFinance, I created a new file MarkAusPolitics.xml which I was able to select, edit and use. Later I selected, edited and used MarkRestoration.

It has nothing to do with italics and bold. The issue only occurred during the generation of the HTML and was isolated in there. There is nothing to indicate why this would happen.

Let me see if I get your sequence right:
1. Select a new Mark file
2. After selecting, immediately edit the mark file
3. The old Mark file is opened for editing

Is this correct? If so, it might not detect the change of the file. It would also be strange, but it might help me pinpoint the idea. Even so, it still should make a difference between 1.20.3 and 1.20.4. Literally nothing changed there.

Actually the first time I just switched from MarkRestoration to MarkFinance and used it - but finance words weren't marked so I went back to settings (assuming I had mis-selected) but MarkFinance was selected, but when I went into Edit I got the MarkRestoration list.

As I said I checked the files and they appeared to be OK.

I assume the path of the current list is in in the config file - maybe that's not being updated. What should I check for ?

FWIW - the calibre DOCX to EPUB Conversion picks up the Highlights, which is a handy and unexpected bonus

This time, before conversion, I set the document language to "deutsch"; the box in front of this option was checked, as well as the box to save the settings on exit.
when I started the converversion, it showed the same result as yesterday: hanging on step 2/15: set language.
I noticed that the setting of the language in the "preparation" section had not been saved on exit.
I unchecked the box in front of the option, but the result was the same.
Now I don't know what to do.

Could you sent me a link to the document? I would love to run it through the debugger to see what is going on. Today I got report from someone with the same issue. I have made a change on my machine that might solve this, but I need to be sure this is the issue.

I went to the DL page for ePUB Tools, and poked around, but I don't see a quick answer to this question: do I understand that the Tools are tested up to Word 2013? Is that right? Not 2016 yet, correct? I'm looking at upgrading from 2010, not because I'm unhappy with it (far from it), but because my clientele has started to move definitely in that direction.

So, am I correct? It's viable for up to 2013? (Of course, that presupposes that I can find a copy that isn't a total scam...)

It should work without a hitch (no pun intended) in 2016, as this uses the same programming core. However, since I don't have a license for 2016, I cannot test it myself. I do know about several people that do use 2016 and don't have any issues.

Thanks. I'm equivocating over which way to roll...2013 or 2016. (Yeah, yeah...I'm not the super-speedy, "gotta get a new Office" person around.)

Humph. It may be decided for me; in looking for 2013 Pro, MS seems to have adopted a very Apple-istic attitude.

I have found the culprit. I had to make a change to the languages due to another function. In the past, only a handful of languages could be selected. Now all supported in Word languages can be selected. However, the translation from the old system to the new system did not work as it should. I have adapted the routine for this, so it should work now. I will try to upload this today.

However, a change in language should have been saved and this works fine. Actually, a change of language in the settings (preparation tab) should also fix this.
