I've found that Reactor Town + 3 Thorium Reactors supplement each other nicely. It leaves several points to use on other assets I choose.

Ouch, I don't recommend surging a level 14 cryocombs and leveling up to level 15 in the same cycle. I was needing over 300K energy, and it will take me another 3 cycles to get my energy needs back to zero. I guess I won't do that again. I agree with Travger, the anti-matter reactor town + 3 - 4 thorium reactors seems to be the way to go to maximum population increase without excessive energy deficits. I have 2 reactor towns in the corners, I think I'm going to add one more and when I get my energy back to normal I'm going to try surging a town core + reactors and maybe a military or food each cycle and see how that goes.

I wish Planet Baen had a way to communicate with one's allies. Although I'm a little lower on energy than I would like, I don't really feel like I'm hurting all that much. If I could see notes from my allies like "need bliss" or "need population" or "need energy" and it would make a big difference on what I would gift to them.

It's been suggested at the Bar, and they've agreed that would be useful and nifty. I suspect something like that will get added in the next major code push, but they'll have to write the scripts to allow people to choose a "need this" resource, and figure out how to make them display. (I suggested it could go under their names in the ally list. Possibly, it'd only show your allies, or people who've allied you, or both.)

Woot, back to having an energy surplus, and I joined someone who had already allied me, only one more of them to go. I think it's going to take another 2 days to do both, but after that, my next level and next ally will each be over 30 megabucks.

I've done worse, intentionally, to try to prune down bliss (which is now sky high all the time, even if I wasn't over by multiple 100K's).

I also wish for the commo addition (and Bob is thinking about it, from what I can tell).

Ah I see I'm not the only one who tried it It seems impossible to tune down bliss without massive losses to cycle income.

I don't see income loss - but often need to get rid of bliss in 10-20K chunks for several cycles in a row. Doing so does stop population growth, of course.

Only if bliss goes negative does it impact income (and let food stay negative for too long and you get die-offs, not pop growth).

This game is starting to resemble the famously intricate "Normington Crescent", one of the great landmarks of radiophonic history and entertainment evolution.

But it could never equal "Crescent", as aficianados are wont to describe it, for its sheer complexity and mind-blowing intensity .............

It's pretty easy, you just need to keep abreast of the ever-changing rules and protocols. I'm working in central London for the rest of the week, so I'll check out the tube and see if I can come up with some new strategies.
