why do you want to remove the pdf progress bar? it's very low profile and useful for me.

the latest build seems to have fixed an earlier issue i had with one pdf which refused to open.

If someone wants to remove it, it's probably less useful for them and taking up valuable space. For me, the whole page could be zoomed more without it, resulting in bigger and better readable letters when viewing the whole page.

It might be a bit t but a fair amount of computer programs allow you to press F11 to go to full screen. Same logic here.

For Cyrillic text it splits the words at the end of the line and transfer some letters to the next line. This is very undesirable effect. It makes reading almost impossible.
Is it possible to fix this with settings? I couldn't find a way to correct this.

does anyone know how to resolve the Open failed error on Duokan?
I installed kindle 3 version but the PDF file which was a loaner from a elibrary doesn't open. any help would be appreicated.

Duokan cannot open DRM protected files. There is a Calibre plug-in that will make your pdf DRM free and readable. Google is your friend.

A new reworked Duokan system has been developed, but hit some problems. Because of the their Spring Festival ( new year ), there are further delays.

Hai, is Duokan display languages other than Chinese / English or Unicode fonts? If Duokan displays non-english Unicode characters, to be specific - Tamil & Indian languages, I would love to install it in my Kindle.

Hi, I literally found out about Duokan this morning and have downloaded it on my Kindle - instructions worked perfectly until getting to the point of getting the old books up on the Duokan screen - 'menu - settings' '3rd page along' then 'support old settings' under 'F'. I don't have this on my screen - I have 'Press Home Goto' under F on the third screen and can't see any options for 'support old settings' anywhere. Have I gone wrong somewhere?

The wording has changed. The setting now reads "Use Kindle Lists". BUt you have probably discovered this by now.

Can you read epub in landscape mode? I could'nt find the option.

For some reason I think it automatically reads things as in the folders and not as individual files.

In other words if you have say 5 books by douglas adams You'll find a folder saying douglas adams..from there you select that one and then the books appear.

In a sense it isn't bad that way until you find the "unknown" folder.

What I like about doukan is the following

1) you can darken or lighten text. I have a pdf I just can't read otherwise

2) You can change the fonts..oddly enough there's a weird function to convert pdf to epub I think in the system and then TTS works and probably this

3) native epub support (it can save time if you don't have calibre)

4) language support for other languages..you can actually put in chinese text and you can get chinese TTS.

I'm sure they'll be more support for more things..Amazon probably won't mind unless they start to get into the network..although technically if they start to get into well..I doubt this but it would be interesting if they attempted to make some auto program to strip drm. It would be funny to see some companies suing groups of chinese hackers given that the benificeries are all people in other countries.

I recently discovered the duokan english version. After some struggles, managed to change the language to english. (In my kindle DX US, it was page 2, option I, in case it helps someone. Lots of confusion about this).

I like the pdf zoom and epub support.

Raring to spend more time with it.
Kudos to the Duokan creators and the english lang converter.
