Keeping an eye on next weekend's weather. My sister and I are going away from Friday until Tuesday morning and had planned to go hiking on at least Saturday and Sunday. Until yesterday the weather prediction was good 20-22C, sunny and dry. But now the prediction is that it's going to be a rainy weekend.
We're both good weather walkers, so we won't go out to the woods when it rains. So if it's going to be rainy weekend I'll just pack some extra games to entertain us. We had initially planned to barbecue on Saturday, but due to the drought only electric or gas barbecuing is allowed at the moment. So we had already decided to gourmet instead. Which is something we can do indoor or outdoor. But who knows, it's still a week and a half away, so weather prediction aren't that accurate. We might even have a heatwave by then (I hope not). |

Preparing to go to my sister later this morning. I'm first going to help her with tidying her storage room and after that we're going to order the groceries for pick up on Friday for our weekend away. And we're going to see which hikes/walks we want to do, even if the current weather prediction says it will be a very rainy weekend.
But first I have to wait until the nurse who puts on my father's compression sock has come by. Which can be anywhere from 9 until 11am. After that my father wants to take a short walk outside, his first since coming home. And he asked me to accompany him. Tonight I plan to work on my new cross stitch project, The Blonde Maiden by Mucha. Which I'm making for my sister as a surprise. I finished gridding the fabric last night and it's a bigger project than I anticipated. |

My sister and I are at our vacation cottage. Despite being in cottage number 13 we lucked out on the location. It's on a little hill and we have total privacy.
This morning we had a bit of a lie in, got fresh bread rolls and after breakfast we took a 3,5km walk. The park is in the middle of the woods and we chose a hike with as starting point the reception building. It was a really quiet part of the woods, we didn't meet any other people. In in hour or two we can pick up the platter for tonight's gourmetten, we probably have an early dinner, so that we can gourmet outside and don't stink up the cottage. I'm enjoying myself and not having to constantly having to do chores. For tomorrow we got an 8km hike planned, and on Monday we're going shopping in a nearby town in the afternoon, followed by a dinner at a restaurant. |

Just back from a quick shop at our local supermarket. Staff complaining that they have been given no holiday or shorter shift for the Jubilee festivities that are all over the country. No matter to me, I treat holidays as 'days' since I retired!

Tomorrow the Canal Pride will take place between 1.30pm and 6pm. It’ll be a very noisy afternoon with 50 boats, all with loud music. So it’ll probably be a very quiet afternoon, customer wise. Normally, is I haven’t got any chores to do I read between customers. But that isn’t an option tomorrow during the boat parade. I’m thinking I might bring my laptop downstairs and play some Sims and Dorfromantik.

The Canal Pride parade is slowly approaching now. On the nearest bridge there's a drum band playing for a while now (although after over half and hour of listening I'm wishing they knew another tune than the one they have been playing). The atmosphere is great outside, the owner of the café across the street put a lot of effort in decorating his building and around the area he has tables and chairs outdoors.
This morning it was quiet, but ever since the parade itself started on the other side of the city I've had more customers than I expected. |

It's a bit of a chaotic week. There are roofers redoing part of the roof that has become leaky. Yesterday they were supposed to be here around 9.30am, but they were and hour early. Today they are coming around 7.30am. But since it's going to rain some time this morning they only plan to take away the singles they removed yesterday.
It also seems I need to run errands every morning except Thursday (can't since the groceries will be delivered some time between 8 and 10.30am). This morning I have to go to the doctor's office for a short check-up, then to the pharmacy to pick up a refill for myself and probably a big bag of refill for my dad. On Friday I have to go to the pharmacy again to pick up a refill order for my mother, I asked her to order her medication on Friday, but she didn't do that until yesterday and they didn't have it in stock. On Saturday after work I'm going over to my sister's place because we're going to the Mucha exhibition in The Hague on Sunday. My sister got tickets for the 11am time slot, so we'll have to leave early. I've promised myself that on Monday I'm allowed to sleep in. |

Sorting out my movie and tv series library.
When I got a new laptop I moved my library and something went wrong. Everything is there but many titles were sorted wrong (The Crow was under the T and not C), so I had to edit the metadata entries. Also for some series the seasons weren't bundled but each had a separate entry. That's all fixed so now I'm going to make collection for the movie series (e.g. Alien, Desperado, etc) and other movies I want to keep together (e.g. for a certain director, actor or other criteria). That'll make searching for certain films easier. It's a good job to do between customers today. Saturday's aren't the busiest day of the week anymore, like before Covid. And since I finished all the chores I had planned for this week I allowed myself to bring my laptop downstairs with me today. When I've finished with this task I'll play some Dorfromatik (I love that game!) |
