Looking for some small, simple and free cross stitch patterns. I'm currently doing my first full cover, the pattern is only 4 pages, but after this project I want to do a couple of quick and easy projects.

Preparing to 'set up' a guitar for a friend who has no idea how to go about these things. Simple matter of setting the 'action'* correctly and realigning the bridge, which has somehow gone out of whack!
* 'Action' on a stringed instrument;the height of the strings above the fretboard to facilitate easier playing. Too hign hurts the fingers and too low causes buzzing! |

Preparing for a busy day. I'm working until 2pm. During that time I probably have to go to the supermarket for a couple of things. After work I have to go to the bank to deposit tome money and to the vet to pick up medicine for Luna (which I have to order this morning). Luckily the bank and the vet are close together. When I get back I'm going to make a big batch of pasta sauce. The first time I'm making it, my mother will tell me what how to make it.

Enjoying a mug of coffee whilst browsing this forum. I have already been out and shopped for essentials (food!) and am now free for the day, if I choose to be!

I just ordered over 40 skeins of cross stitch floss and a big piece of fabric. Enough for three projects. It's what I want to bring with me on my vacation in September. I had planned to order the things mid August, but Casa Cenina has a Christmas in Summer sale, everything 20% off. So that's worth ordering now for.

In four weeks I'm going on a two week vacation with my sister. Which means that this week I started preparations. I ordered a proper first aid kit (which is bigger than I thought). It comes with most things I need, but I added several things and still need to buy a couple of more things at the drug store.
Yesterday I ordered a set of vacuum bags (so I can more easily bring my pillow and a blanket) and a Nintendo Switch case on Amazon. And just now I ordered a new cap for my razor, detergent for hand washing and a big scented candle. And I just discovered I need to order some paper for my mini photo printer, too. Now I need to decide what to take. When I'm going on my own my father drops me off. He's got a Renault Espace, which is big. My sister's car isn't, so I can't just bring the things for several hobbies and see what I'm in the mood for to use. Luckily we have a washing machine and a dryer, so I don't need to take a lot of clothes with me. I'm really looking forward to it. It's been a stressful year and I need a bit of a break. |

Just about to go out to the garage and do the final assembly on a stationary bike that was just delivered. The old one died after six years, which I thought was a decent lifespan for a modest and inexpensive piece of equipment. This one is pretty much the same model by the same manufacturer. The job should be pretty quick and uncomplicated.

For years my mother's eyesight has been deteriorating because of cataracts. But she always denied she couldn't see well (she obviously had problems with it). After the stenosis surgery on her neck last year the deterioration sped up and she could no longer deny the problem.
Earlier this year she bit the bullet and started the process to get her eyes fixed. All the preparations were done by late July and then she had to wait for her turn. The hospital would let her know two weeks in advance. Yesterday she got a call that an appointment was cancelled and they could fix her first eye on Friday! There are two complications. The first one is that because of her leg spasms she has to get a full anesthetic and instead of walking out of the hospital less than an hour after the surgery she has to stay for a couple of hours, maybe even the night. Second, the eye they are operating on first has a hard cataract, and although the doctor has high hopes of fixing her eye there is a chance he won't succeed. But then she get a referral to the university hospital, where they do complicated eye surgery, where they will be able to fix her eye. The second surgery is set for September 27, she also has to get a full anesthetic but at least it's a regular cataract surgery. It also means a little bit of weight is lifted off my back as she can do more. I now have to read all the letters she gets from the hospital and do all the online orders because she can't see much. When she can see normally again she can do all those things herself again. |

The last couple of weeks I've been feeling off. I though it was because of my anxiety and because I changed my diet; cutting out most of the sugar I ate/drank and curbing snacking (especially at night). But last weekend I really didn't feel good. I was able to get an appointment with my doctor on Tuesday morning.
After we talked and she took my blood pressure and blood sugar level (both okay) she referred me to have some blood taken and hand in an urine sample, mentioning that it was, amongst other things, to check my thyroid. But that some of the symptoms indicate high stress levels, which isn't strange after the last eight years. A couple of days ago I talked to my mother and mentioned the thyroid test. She said it wasn't such a bad idea, since both of her siblings have thyroid issues (I knew about my aunt, but not my uncle) and my grandmother on my father's side have/had thyroid problems. This morning I woke up at 5am, and was wide awake. So I decided to check the symptoms of thyroid problems. Looking at the symptoms I'm now pretty sure I've got hyperthyroidism. It just fits. Some symptoms I've been dealing with low key or off and on for a while. Mostly blaming them on my anxiety (which in itself is a symptom). It's such a relief. Will it suck if I get properly diagnosed, sure. But it's something that can be dealt with. And it's not something I can blame myself for, it's just one of those things you can get. I've booked an appointment for the 22nd, after my vacation, to get some blood taken and to hand in an urine sample, so hopefully within a week after that date I know if it's hyperthyroidism. That being said, my doctor also booked my an appointment with the practice's psychologist, to help me deal with all the the things that have happened and are still happening over the past eight years. |

In my vacation home, enjoying the coolness of the morning. Today is going to be hot, 28C, so my sister and I haven't planned any activities besides taking it easy in our cottage and picking up the groceries we've ordered at 4pm.
It's just after 8am, my sister is still sleeping and I'm waiting for 9am when I can pick up our freshly baked bread rolls and croissants. And see if I can exchange the scissors, since the ones in our cottage are dull. Our cottage is great, we've got views over a little water and the ducks know when it's breakfast, lunch or dinner time, they go by every cottage, I think, and see if they can get anything. We don't want to give them bread, so we're going to see if we can get some duck feed at the local pet store or garden center later in the week. When we got to our cottage on Monday there were a lot of flies, but an electric fly swatter was available. My sister went on the hunt and there are only a couple of flies left. Yesterday we went on a walk in the woods. There's a path at the back of the vacation park that leads right into the big national park At the reception of the park you can get print outs of various routes, we chose the 5km one. The description wasn't very clear at some points and we went wrong somewhere and ended up walking 7km instead. We have planned that when they predict a misty morning to get up before sunrise and go into the forest to take pictures. |
