That's because 30 hardback books in a bookshelf are MORE than enough to impress your boss, friends, and family. Anything more is just an expensive overkill. You buy impressive titles in the remainders section of B&N, and then go to Amazon for your trashy, Sci-Fi, romance, mysteries with pickup trucks, tortured billionaires, and sword fights.

(BTW, I read that book it was GREAT!)

I will never pay attention to her--seems like bad advice.

I do not buy books to impress people, I buy what I like and want to read.

I have more than 30 reference books. I don't see what would be ideal or GREAT about getting rid of any of them.

Better to wash them and put them in a rag bag. You never know when you might need more rags. I always feel sort of embarrassed when I'm at a stop light wiping the fogged up window of my car with some old tighty whities.

I once gave one away as a gag gift.

Seriously, I give my 'hole-ly' underwear - clean - to our pug and play tug-of-war with him.

Oh, wait a minute: Where am I? Is this an ebook technology site?

OK: Back to Sci-Fi.

Goldilocks by Laura Lam is $4.99 on Amazon.com (down from $10)

Goodreads

Quote:
Despite increasing restrictions on the freedoms of women on Earth, Valerie Black is spearheading the first all-female mission to a planet in the Goldilocks Zone, where conditions are just right for human habitation.
It's humanity's last hope for survival, and Naomi, Valerie's surrogate daughter and the ship's botanist, has been waiting her whole life for an opportunity like this - to step out of Valerie's shadow and really make a difference.
But when things start going wrong on the ship, Naomi begins to suspect that someone on board is concealing a terrible secret - and realizes time for life on Earth may be running out faster than they feared . . .
Also, The Blue Sword by Robin McKinley is $1.99 on Amazon.com (repeat)

I used to do that, until I ran over a mailbox while trying to get them back on...

Having read her books there's an important caveat "unless they bring you joy".

A woman who considers a collection of pinball machines worth keeping since they gave the owner joy and even discussed how to display embarrassingly cheesy merchandise in a closet so that the owner could see and enjoy them every time they opened the closet would not begrudge a bibliophile their shelves of books as long as every book was a joy to the owner.

I really like his books on Drizzt. Good fantasy, I think. 😊

If I had known earlier, I would have given them to you (if the police wouldn't have come pounding on my door); but now they reside in that place where - presumably - Samantha has gone. (Re: the film Her.)
