As I understand it, the cats who come to Ricky have already been through several of their allotted 9 lives, but some of them might have a spare or two to donate, especially once they're in Ricky's care. It's the most plausible explanation I can think of for her apparent ability to survive nearly anything.

This also makes a great deal of sense.... though I have to admit, one of our cats really is evil. And frightfully intelligent about it at times.

Ok... after a false start with that iBuyPower.com DOA POS and deciding to build my own... I can say...

My new PC is awesome. After using it for a few weeks I am glad I got it. Even though my EMPLOYER should have provided me a decent PC.

I installed InstallShield on it today to edit some install projects, and DAMN... it doesn't take 3 minutes to open the project now. And Visual Studio 2008 is actually very fast on it.

Yes, this is a GOOD rant.

Just my skinned knee. No other bruises, sore spots, or anything else. Just a skinned knee. Go figure.

A car "ran over you" literally? The weight of the car drove over your body, and all you got was a skinned knee?

I am going to start calling your RubberMaveety.

My graphics card died... At least, I think it's my graphics card. I started to get funny artifacts on my screen even in the bios! Now I'll need a new one, and I've no idea what is a good one!

Fed up because I can't do the things I want to do right now and apparently it's all because of the good weather.

Firstly good weather = gardening, which is probably why I have an itchy rash. Secondly warm weather = feeling ill after giving blood. Have always quite enjoyed giving blood before - an enforced lie down and someone makes me a cup of tea at the end, and then I go home. I've never had any problems other than an occasional small bruise. Today I ended up with extra blood tests (fortunately everything was fine) and then my arm wouldn't stop bleeding and then I started shaking as I left. Apparently it's all because of the warm weather.

So many things I could/should be doing and I'm lying down and itching. Why does this sort of thing happen when I'm not working! Hopefully all will be better by tomorrow as long as I can get enough sleep

Artifacts on the screen even in the bios?? That sounds more like the monitor than the graphics card. Do you have another monitor you could hook up to see if it behaves the same way?? Even if you could borrow a monitor off someone for a quick test. Better to know for certain that it's your graphics card before you buy one. XFX makes some great graphics cards. I have been using them for years.

The front tire on the driver's side went right over my butt. American four door sedan, blue. That's about all I remember about the car.

But yes .... all I had to show for it was the knee that I would have skinned anyway when I fell, and those nice tire tracks. I can't say I even remember feeling the pressure of the car going over me, although I know it did because I was lying between the front and rear tires when the driver stopped, and I had the telltale tire tread marks.

Funny the things you remember. I was wearing a mid-calf length black box pleated skirt, and a traditional short riding jacket with a jabot. But, all I remember about the car was that it was a four door sedan and blue.

Oh, and I remember that someone on the conference floor gave me some extra goodies that day because of my little accident (in fact, as I recall, it was he who noticed the tire tracks and pointed them out to me .... I was pretty focused on my knee which was a bit bloody).

Strange day that.

I'll be popping the card in my husband's pc tonight. He has exactly the same card. And it's not my monitor, as when I start Windows in safe mode, I don't see those artifacts. It's probably some corrupt memory on the card.

You know .. I had a couple of broken legs, I cutted my quadriceps in halve (with a couple of dozen other cuts on my whole body), I got a couple of dozen stitches over my body (mainly head, which could explain some of those strange behaviours) in a couple of dozen accidents - but I never had a car driving over me. And I really dont want to test it. No sir, not with me!

I thought you saw them in the bios as well? Generally, that indicates something other than the card. However, if you don't see them in safe mode, then that also doesn't sound like it's the card .... it might be the drivers.

Have you checked to make sure you have the most recent drivers from the manufacturer or the card installed?? They are not generally installed automatically like Windows updates, you have to go looking for them.

While you're popping cards in and out, check out your hubby's card in your machine. If the artifacts are still there in your machine, note the make and model of the card and try new drivers before you buy any hardware.

Hobbies?? I was just walking down the street minding my own business. Most of my hobbies are actually pretty humdrum .... I'm not much of a thrill seeker. Stuff just tends to happen to or around me. I was machine quilting a bedspread (long time ago), and somehow got the pressure foot over my thumb and drove the needle right through my thumbnail and through the bone. Stuff like that, you see? It's not like sewing is a dangerous hobby, it's just that sh*t happens.

I had the newest drivers possible. So, I first thought it was that. I restored an old image (with the somewhat older driver which had worked since march), but no sigar... As I'm seeing it at the bios, it can't be the driver as the drivers haven't been loaded yet...

I think the card fried (partly), just enough to show artifacts but not enough to completely kill it. And that putting it in my husband's pc, that's to easy his mind that I'm not imagining it so I can buy a new one
