Oh Dear Lord! When did this happen? Are you in a hospital or anything? What all was broken or bleeding? Ricky, you have to get yourself a suit made out of bubble wrap and not leave home without it! Are you OK?

I'm pretty certain that, at this point, Ricky mostly gets up and brushes herself off, checks for a pulse and, finding one, says, "Well that happened," and walks on to where she was going.

To his credit he did get out and try to help me (as did about eight other cabbies that were parked in front of the hotel). Mostly they argued about whether or not I should be moved or not.

Edit: at least I think it was a cab. It was big and blue.
Ricky is no longer allowed outside her home.

But is she safe inside? Isn't there some sort of padded thing we could keep her in for her own safety? Oh, right, phenomshel just suggested that. Well, let's do it, okay?! Who's up for a construction project at Ricky's?

Oh, she'll be safe. If she falls, she's bound to fall on a few of her 259 cats.

I think way too many people took that to be law

Lazy Pirates

Where are the pirates when you need them?

I'm negotiating to republish some out-of-print books, and can I find a copy of them on the dark net? No, I can't. It looks like I'll have to scan and OCR them myself! (And proof-read, but I was always going to have to do that...)

Lazy pirates...

When are they going to develope a Cat Food that *doesn't* stain the carpet? oh ya and processed cheese that doesn't stain either. Between the kid and the cat both being sick over the last few days I have neon orange cheese stains downstairs and bright yellow cat food stains upstairs. Getting to them quick didn't help, this was quick stick dye they used in those products I'm telling you! Was not planning to clean carpets today, was actually going to do work and read MR today. My green machine is going to get a workout!

There are some brands of cat food that don't include dyes. They are often more expensive, so even though our cats like them pretty well, we usually don't get them.

The dye in cheese is annatto. Yes, it's quite difficult to get out. There are uncolored cheeses as well, even processed cheeses, but kids often seem to prefer the colored ones, even though as far as I can tell the annatto doesn't add any particular flavor to the cheese.

*Sigh*

Supposedly three groups are interested in my parent's house now. The first is waiting for their own house to sell though. The second needs documents for the well, which my mom was never given and no-one seems to know where they are. And there hasn't been a word out of the last group for awhile. What makes things worse is that although they have applied for many jobs in town, and gone to several interviews, none have called back. My mother's ebay business barely brings in any money. So most of their income right now is what I can give them plus whatever they can get from selling their possessions. Which frankly isn't enough. Bills are piling up. Credit cards are maxed out. If the house doesn't sell soon they could lose everything.

I hope things improve soon (or a miraculous fourth group appears with cash in their hands for your parents' house).

I have been in a similar situation with my parents and although things must be very stressful, I'm sure they appreciate your support - things would be even worse if you weren't there for them.

Good luck!
