Post It Happened in Egypt- Just figured out how to load it

I have my brand new Sony PRS 300- I am a frugal person so I got the cheapest model that would take free books. I love travel and adventure so I took someone's recommendation and finally got the hang of the steps. The Brits and the Egyptologists were so adventurous.

Wonderful! I hate to tell you this but I noticed that Best Buy and Target both have $30 off on the 300 this weekend. I'm not sure where you bought it or if you could return it and save another $30.

Welcome Aboard!!

Perhaps running a little out of steam. The drip-drip of new supernatural entities is getting a little tiresome. What will she do when there are no more to add?

But still enjoyable, on the whole. I must admit to having no recollection of Hadley before this book, but I suppose she must have been mentioned.

Now for American Gods by Neil Gaiman. Neil's books are very different to each other, but I've enjoyed the ones I have read.

I love that book, it's the first Gaiman I ever read. Its length facilitates more depth than you find in the also great Anasi Boys, and the central mystery is intriguing.

I'm reading "Stiff" for the book club, and trying to decide what I want to read next. I have quite a few pbooks I need to tackle, and I just picked up "The World Without Us" in the bargain books section at the bookstore, which I was quite happy about.

My first Gaiman also. Loved the book, though I've read some less than inspiring reviews on it.

Brief Interviews With Hideous Men, by David Foster Wallace. A little bit reminds me of Samuel R. Delany.

This is for all of you who read The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo. I read it and really liked it and am half way through The Girl Who Played with Fire and like it better.

Anyway, the movie version of Dragon Tattoo just opened here in the DC area and I saw it tonight and it is excellent. If you like the book, I highly recommend the movie.

I am re-reading American Gods, as well, as it is April's read for my Goodreads Fantasy Book Club, and I am also reading Guy Gavriel Kay's "A Song for Arbonne". It's been taking me a while to get into it.

I have also read some not-so-good reviews for American Gods, which I don't really understand as I loved it - my husband even called it a masterpiece and he is SUPER picky about what he reads.

I've not read American Gods. I've read Anansi Boys, and it didn't inspire me to read any more. I don't specifically think it was badly written...I'm not so inspired as to be critical of it...I'm not inclined at this point to read another though. Views here from many (who I've no reason but to respect) have suggested my opinion is in the minority though, and if I was told that American Gods was worlds above Anansi Boys I'd likely give it a go sometime down the track. Who knows? Sometimes, when reading, mindset can have an influence on me. Perhaps I wasn't in the right one at the time.

Cheers,
Marc

Very true, I find that mindset can have a lot of influence on me when reading. Just for the record, I do believe that American Gods is worlds above Anansi Boys, give it a try one day if you ever find the time.

At any rate, I feel like American Gods seems to be one of those books that people either Love or Hate. I've heard people say it was the worst book they've ever read (Come on, worst? If it was so bad why did they read it all the way through?) or sing its praises.

As for Definitely Dead, there is a short story in the Sookie Stackhouse short story collection that involves Hadley (I can't recall the title of the collection), and apparently that story should be read before reading the novel that concerns the mystery involving Hadley. Try to see if you can get your hands on it somewhere.
