They pointed that out in the follow-up; not to mention giving Lomborg quite a bit of space to respond within their own magazine. They were more than fair with him, and I felt his responses to his critics fell flat.

Halfway through reading "The Story of Edgar Sawtelle." Is it me or is this book padded -- maybe not my cup of tea, but it's really testing my patience -- but I'll keep going. Hopefully it'll turnaround.

Wish that were available as an ebook. According to the Oxford University Press website, it contains nearly 100 essays by "scientists and science-writers including Stephen Pinker, Stephen Jay Gould, Martin Gardner, Albert Einstein, Julian Huxley, and many dozens more."

Finished "Shutter Island" by Dennis Lehane. It was very enjoyable but, told there was a twist I managed to guess it. The book was still a good read but explaining the ramifications of the said twist almost bring proceedings to a grinding halt.

Then read "The Curious case of Benjamin Button" by Fitzgerald. A lovely little fable totally unlike the blockbuster movie version.

Yep I picked that one up a few weeks ago. It's got some great articles and essays by some of the best science writers around, including a few "classics!"

Brilliant, Kenny. Noting your interest in science, by the way, I wonder if you subscribe to The Edge. Also Skeptical Inquirer's online version is well worth looking at. I think you already keep tabs on the excellent TED talks. Cheers. Neil

I'm not familiar with the Edge, but if you recommend it, I'm sure it's worth checking out. I'm a past subscriber to the Committee for Skeptical Inquiry's Skeptical Inquirer magazine and a current subscribe to the Council for Secular Humanism's Free Inquiry magazine. Although their missions are different, they complement each other nicely; both are great magazines, and both are published by the Center For Inquiry, of which Paul Kurtz is the founder and Chair Emeritus.

Good of you to mention the TED Talks; they are incredible. How wonderful to live in a day and age when knowledge once reserved for the wealthy and elite is so readily and freely available for anyone with an inquiring mind!

Have you checked out "Point of Inquiry" (the Center for Inquiry's radio show and podcast)?

Well, I did enjoy that. Wonderful aliens, an interesting scenario, perhaps less real science than one would have expected. But I awarded it my first 10/10 of the year.

I think I'll read another Charlaine Harris now. Definitely Dead is next on my list.

Hello there, Kenny and Tom: We have a lot of reading in common it seems. The Edge can be a little accademic at times and heavy on medicine, but it's worth subscribing to, and its videos are often quite fascinating. Here you go: http://www.edge.org/ Cheers. Neil
