Last Sunday, I saw the 350 & 650 at the Sony Style store in Palo Alto, CA. The first sales guy I talked to--young dude--said it wasn't in stock. Then his boss corrected him, it was in stock.

Young dude also told me: "Yeah, the 650 is great. I think it is going to make reading popular again. A lot of people just don't read nowadays."

Judging from the expression on my face, I think he knew what I thought of that opinion.

Saw both at borders in perth today!

Pretty impressed with the 350. Was comparing the two side by side and the 350 was quite a lot sharper.

No price stickers though...

So guys, will they release the silver 650 in the US? Don't really want to buy it in Canada with their taxes and bigger shipping costs.

Bought my 650 in Dixons in Netherlands. They had all three colors of both models!

I just noticed that Amazon is selling the 650 Red via J&R with no sales tax and a small shipping fee:

My sales guy loved his 505 but still couldn't get over the paper book. Something about the smell.

Okay.... I broke down.. had to get it..
The 10% BB coupon didn't work.. but I had a $5.00 rewards coupon.. darn taxes! oh well..

I sold my PRS600 and don't like the ipad for long term reading.. a bit heavy and bright..

-- The 350 is very sharp and very portable size.. love the touch features of the 600 and improved interface.. especially creating collections on the fly on the device.

2 GB is plenty for books.. more and things slow down and harder to find..

50 books so far and well.. anymore and the signs of ADHD will be too obvious!

I am not disappointed by downgrading from 6" to 5" ... I read at XS font size on the 350 for now..

More impressions lately.
BB in stock for the 350

SonyStyle store at South Coast Plaza has both.. I opted to not get the 650 model.
Didn't use more than 2GB storage and never used the ProDUO slot nor the audio feature..

The 350 is fantastic!!
screen super
size/weight super
..
now must find a nice case.. was using the caselogic zipper case for the prs600 with an wrapsol entire body skin..don't know if I will "skin" the 350..

cheers!

Sony did a good job.... initial impressions are positive! (although a bit pricey- but worth it! ) lol

Does someone know how to get it in Spain at a reasonable price?

The only place I've found in Spain is Pixmania, which will sell it for 279€ starting on 4th of October, being the light case another 51€. As you might notice, the price is hilarious, clearly the most expensive one I've seen by far. However, it does not look like there are more stores (online or physical) selling it nowadays, and I'm really looking forward for it, as I don't have an ebook reader yet.

Can someone suggest me an alternative?

Spain seems to be one of the regions supported in the latest Reader Library, and the landing page is there on the Sony site. So it seems Sony does plan to release the Reader in Spain, but there is some holdup. I suggest you to try contacting Sony Spain to see if they have any info to share.

Yes, I've heard that too, that Spain was on the list of countries, but the Sony wepage in Spain still does not give any information about ebook readers.

I'll try to contact them directly to see what they can tell me, thanks.

I didn't see the silver version at the US Sony store this past weekend when I went - I don't see it being available on the US site as well. I just sucked it up and purchased my silver one on the Canadian site - it's free shipping and the price is only about $20 more than the US pricing. Of course the 13% tax on top sucks but oh well...I got the colour I want. However you'll still get charged on the taxes when shipping or bringing back to Canada from the US.

Picked up the Red 650 from ABT Electronics in Chicago last night. They had both colors for the 350 but only Red for the 650. I also got the Red cover (without light) for $18. This cover sells for $35 but the sign next to it said $18 and the salesman said he had to honor the listed price.

I really would have liked a Silver 650 but I'll be ok with the Red.

Alright, I just finished my second book on my 650! It's basically perfect. One thing I have noticed is that the font size from book to book varies, so on one book I'll be reading at Medium, and on another I'll have to set it to Small, and even so, the resulting font size will be a bit different. This isn't a huge deal, but it would be nice if I could standardize the font size for my library. I've heard people speak highly of Calibre on this forum. Will it do this? And is the latest version compatible with the 350/650?

Font sizes will look different depending on how the ebook was created by the publisher.

The latest version of Calibre does support the 350 and 650. You can change the font sizes using Calibre but the books will have to be DRM-free to perform this function.
