Will do. Here are the links:

Hello again,
Here’s another book I’ve found, & I didn‘t see it on the list:

http://www.amazon.com/Second-Ship-Rh...f=pd_cp_kinc_2
The Second Ship (The Rho Agenda : Book One) by Richard Phillips
$0.99
~4.5 star rating (from 23 reviews)
Product Description
Top-Secret Los Alamos, New Mexico. In 1945 its scientists unlocked the secrets of the atomic bomb. Now they've cracked the very lock on hell itself. Once again the quiet scientific community spawned by the Manhattan Project comes face to face with a technological breakthrough for which the world is completely unprepared. Now, as a special team of operatives struggles to stop the project codenamed Rho while containment is still possible, what it means to be human is about to change -- forever. In this heart pounding new series, acclaimed author Richard Phillips gives us a terrifying glimpse into what lies just around the future's corner.

The second book in this series, Immune (The Rho Agenda : Book Two), is priced at $6.39, so it doesn’t qualify for the list. But I just wanted to mention that is available for the Kindle if anyone is so inclined.

On a seperate note, I hope that publishers are making money on the free books (and a new batch is coming). I bought the other books in the series after reading the free Assassin's Apprentice, but I haven't got around to reading some of the other free books I downloaded.
It must. Looking at the Sony ebookstore's bestseller list, you can see that several of the sequels to freebies are on there. Goodness knows I buy them!

I got it back then as well ... I think before the list was started (a lot of the good deals books would get posted and then disappear from the forum, as new messages posted; no harm in reposting as they are rediscovered, I would think).

I'm pretty sure it was on the list but then the price went up and I pulled it.

Definitely glad to see the price went back down.

haven't read it yet. I tend to snag books as soon as possible that are on this list that meet my reading tastes. some are fantastic and lead me on to other books and/or series by the author presenting them, others are incredible dissapointments. it's kind of a crapshoot, but I figure I am just a bit above breaking even in the pleased/dissapointed category.

I just wanted to comment on Tumor by J.H. Fialkov & N. Tuazon. It's a graphic novel where each chapter costs 99 cents. It's on Sporadic's list and I don't know how many chapters there will be in total, but I imagine the cost for the whole book could get up there once all the chapters have been purchased. So, I can't say that this book is really free or inexpensive --- but the first chapter was pretty good.

The story is about a retired private detective that comes out of retirement to find a crime boss's missing daughter (think Philip Marlow/Sam Spade), and is told from the detective's point of view. However, the detective has a brain tumor and is dying -- and one of the effects of the tumor is that it screws with the detective's sense of time. The way this ties into the story is really cool -- it reminds me of Faulkner's The Sound and the Fury (except I actually like Tumor). The dialog and the inner thoughts of the characters in Tumor are extremelly well done, especially when you consider that these items must be kept to a short length in a graphic novel.

The artwork isn't spectacular but it is still good. The images resemble a talented artist's sketched still frames of camera shots for a film or TV show (i.e. a director's storyboard that is a little rough), but I feel this adds to the grittyness of the novel, so this isn't a complaint. I don't know how the novel looks on the Kindle 1 and 2 as I read it on a Kindle DX. I had no problem reading the story or viewing the images on the DX, but the image sizes were definately NOT drawn for the DX's screen size. Lastly, the pages turned very quickly for images. All-in-all, it's really good.

According to the story's site, it is going to be 8 chapters.

I looked at Chapter 1 on my K1 and it looks pretty good. Definitely readable.

Here's an interview with one of the creators.
