Two nights ago I woke up at 4 with bad premonitions. Got up and went downstairs to find it really cold. The entry door had opened with the strong winds at -25C. How ever I tried it would not close shut so I had to drill and screw it shut. Luckily today it was a mild -10C windless day so I was able to thaw the ice around it to close it again.

Yesterday I had an important delivery and installation of cabinetry that was complicated by a dead battery and then a dead starter on my truck.

Some days are long and tiresome, cold just makes them worse.

The cold of last week killed my heater fan in my truck. It is in getting fixed, now. I'm thinking of trading it in, anyway, so this sort of just pushes it along.

Looks like we got about a foot of snow today. (The prediction was 3-5 inches, but nobody believed THAT.) The snowblower is broken, so I suppose we'll be out tomorrow morning with shovels. Bleah.

It's been like this for about a week. Some kind of inversion. We finally get a high pressure system, which usually means some sun, and lower temps, but it has trapped some moist air over us and it can't get out, hence the fog.

To make matters worse, one of a handful of bridges that cross the Fraser River, which allows access to Vancouver's downtown, had a fire and is under repair for at least 4 weeks, if not longer. Traffic is going to be a nightmare.
