New England Football Tailgating Recipes - free

It's my recollection that the New England Patriots started the tailgating custom for the NFL their first year in Foxboro (1971?). There was such a traffic jam for the first game that the team encouraged the fans to come early and tailgate for the second game. Thus, a ritual was born. I've been told that college football fans tailgated prior to that time, but I don't remember that.
