I liked the Vizio form and screen, I just don't trust the available storage to meet my needs (I'm downloading a lot of apps on the Flyer), but it's certainly a great deal!

Vizio is too big for me. It's nice but more for a coffee table tablet or a guy. The A1 is nice but I think I will be very happy with my Kindle Fire. I won't be putting movies on it so the space will be plenty. I only have a 2GB card on my phone with 256MB of internal space and no where near my storage quota yet.

I Dont buy movies! I have 1000s stored in my EX-HD! In formats Amazon Does Not Support! Why should I rebuy or Rent movies I have? This is one of the things I mentioned in the Start of this thread!

My point was you will be able to use non Amazon apps on the Fire. Side loading hasn't been confirmed yet but many non Amazon apps have. I wont be using it for movies either but you said in a prior post

They may not have them in the U.S, I'm not sure. Winners is a large discount store that sells mostly clothing. It is similar to Marshalls. In fact, I think they are both owned by the same company and sell a lot of the same items at the same prices. To come to think of it, check out Marshalls. You may luck out.

Okay thanks I know of Marshalls but there are none in this area.
We don't even have a Staples.

Again you are pointing out places to Rent Movies.... I stated my reasons Not to get Fire [at this time] And you Cant seem to except it. I do hope you enjoy the Fire. I be more than glad to read any & all reviews Once people are Actually using them! BUT until the Fire can play movies I already Own I still say It Not For Me!

The thread you pointed to was about renting movies.

I'm confused what you wanted me to read then?
What format is the movies you own in. Perhaps there is an app for that.

Ok Katie, this is getting ridiculous. I'll try to be as clear as I can be:

The fire will let you play your own movies. The fire will let you play movies from other sources. The fire will let you get media and content from sources other than amazon.

You seem to have read one misinformed thread somewhere, and are taking that bad info to the bank. The fire is NOT locked down like you think it is.

Wow... you must take a lot of home movies seeing as how you have 1000s stored but don't buy them.

BTW: There is this little thing called Transcoding... it allows you to view movies that aren't in the format of the client device. I am hoping the Plex client will run on the Fire. Of course, I'm not sure if I will keep the Fire I ordered... but I have a month to decide after I get it.

Why would anyone OWN movies these days in the Netflix Era? They have MILLIONS of movies and TV shows going back to 1930. Plus, by your ratings all their movies are pre-qualified for your particular tastes. No one else offers this convenience.

So far as I understand it, Netflix will be available on the Kindle Fire. One can start a movie in one's home and then continue it later on the Fire with the bookmarks preserved.

Frankly, I have Amazon Prime but will rarely, if ever, watch Amazon movies on the Fire. I'll be using Netflix for the movies. For me the Fire is for the eBooks and internet browsing ang games. Amazon Prime gets me 2 day deliveries (ONE day defacto for my location), one free eBook each month to borrow and zero shipping costs with no minimum amount to qualify for the 2 day shipping.

I would say to just DUMP your wasted investment in owned movies, sell it or just give them away. If they are on VCR tapes, they are even more obsolete.

By the way, you can upload your movies to the Amazon Cloud if they are in digital format and then play them on your Fire from the Cloud.
