Actually, in Duokan there are 2 ways to change font size. The first is in the settings menu [Alt+SYM], page 2, item 4, Default Font Size. Note also that there is a setting for Home Font Size.

The second is exactly the same as in Kindle: Press Aa while in the book in which you wish to change font size, then move 5 way right or left to select size. Duokan will remember your choice for that book.

Quite true, but I was referring to making the font bigger by selecting a bigger size in Calibre before converting the book. I might not be expressing myself too clearly. Regardless of what setting I use in Calibre, the converted book always has the same font size options in Duokan, I mean the smallest "DK" always looks like about a size 6, etc. on the screen.

I see what you mean. I've actually never tried setting font size with Calibre. How big do you want your fonts to be? It seems like you can set them quite large in both Duokan and Kindle.

Just got it up again. ( ..a lot of hardware design/work... ) And now I have a lot of questions, as I don't know how I solved it !? (..errors in nodes, cluster size, etc. Have to investigate partial dumps, etc. ) Anyway, somehow I got the latest version to update Duokan, and this caused Amazon to do an update/refresh of the filesystem. ( some of my errors had to do with updates in /etc )

I will add one of my many questions - ( see attached picture ) - can anyone explain what happens if you do a reset ? ( is there any recovery partition ? ) ( got the screen shown here by reset+home, on another kindle )

Added this later:
1st: got something kicked in Duokan.....
2nd: kicked some "tinyroot" crawling the filesystem, after something like this:
https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=113362
Uncompressing Linux.....
...and 7 lines down
Press [ENTER] for recovery menu...
( enter opens the I,O,E,U,Q - menu )[ got myself out of there..Q]

Someplace there was a menu for Uboot, with lots of options..

( sorry for the incoherency.....)

Added info:

I have come across this bug-report:
http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=82106

Same results and believe the missing characters is tied to this. Test something more..

For some reason the latest Duokan releases have a progress bar when viewing PDFs which I hate, anyone know how to disable it?

I finally installed Duokan on my K2 (after the 2.5.7 update). I took the leap because flip's site had the preconfigured English version available for download. His link is dated end of December and the last update on the first post of this thread looks like it is from November. I wanted to make sure I had the most up to date version.

Too soon to really comment on it. I like all the options in settings. Mobi files are okay. I've only tried one PDF (a cell phone manual) and it didn't seem to work any better than the original Kindle FW.

I'll play some more and come back with my questions.

Fit width mode gets rid of it, but also will make each page a two-step (top/bottom) if the ratio is to high vertically. I don't mind it that much though, just can't see the full page as one page.

I have not yet figured out how to scroll the page in smaller steps in landscape mode, I'm trying various key combinations without luck

Just in case anyone was having language trouble, I am using this version of Duokan:

Duokan_0_5_13_7800__2010_12_31_english (from the link on flip's site) - but it loaded in Chinese.

I managed to find the language symbol using google. The option to switch to english is point 'I' on page 2/3 in the settings menu. There is a link to a photo below:

You are probably familiar with the attached image ?

Well,...after a lot of work - some plain silly thing appeared:

The "3" option really says - press space to load the last used system !

http://www.mandarintools.com/chardict.html - and hours counting strokes and other bizarre loops

- had to include this detail after 6 months of wondering.....

turn off continuous view in landscape mode

another strange thing I encountered: in landscape mode pageturns don't turn by page, the pdf is displayed in continuous mode and I can't find an option to turn it off for some books that are not suitable for the continuous mode.

Is there any way to toggle the top bar that displays book title, time, and battery charge while reading? It's not too much of a distraction, but I could live without it.

My apologies if this has been answered elsewhere...searches aren't turning up results.

I really like the color differences to make pdf's darker...also the ability to kinda convert to epub and add tts.

Right now what I'm wondering is how exactly does one make collections and add books into them? This seems to be the biggest issue I have with it.

The zooming on the pdf's is great :-)

I don't know how to turn off the top bar in smart layout, but I don't have it in normal layout.
