...(sigh)...wondering when the mornings will cool off enough so that I can crack a window for two Maine Coons that have now been trapped inside with zero outside air for 4+ months. Not to mention the humans. 7 more weeks until it cools off here, reliably and historically (3rd week of October, every year. You can almost rely on it like the Swallows of San Juan Capistrano.)

Just trying to jailbreak my KOA2 to install KOReader to view some PDFs, which are part of the homework, with a deadline in 2 hours.

Leafing through the catalogue of an art brush company. I ordered three brushes from them and requested the catalogue. Now I'm drooling. The brushes are each around €10, probably the most expensive brushes I have (but they're hard to get wedge/pyramid/triangle brushes). But now I'm drooling over a set of three brushes that cost over €140.

Maybe if I've had a lot of practice and win the lottery.

Volunteering at Student Veterans for UNM (an organization at our local university). Last month I didn't know where to volunteer 40 hours a month (a requirement for the veterans' program I'm in) and this month... Two non-profit organizations want me to volunteer at their offices (including this one). *shaking head* Looks like I'll be volunteering 30 hours a week!

Just helped my neighbour clean the road outside our homes, where some kind person who was obviously the worse for alcohol had used the surface as a lavatory. Not the most pleasant of jobs but living on the fringe of the city centre, the sort of thing we get every few years.

Just finished watching the second episode of The Purge on USA Network. Programming based on a sick ideological perspective... Ugh, I'm trying not to be too philosophical about it. Years ago I was a radical, racial conflict theorist at UNM and I'd like to analyze this tv series--the implications of thousands of viewers watching this show, but... too much analysis of darkness is not a good thing. It's best to just watch the show to satisfy my curiosity and leave it at that.

Yesterday my father sold five or six white porcelain lamp sockets to a customer. Today she came to exchange two. Because the metal threaded ring inside the socket (where you screw in the bulb) was gold coloured, while the other three sockets had silver coloured rings and she liked that better. When you put in a lightbulb, and I assume you buy sockets to use them with bulbs, you can't see the colour of those rings.

Weird customers.

Yeah, my wife's office shut down today and tomorrow, but for naught, today at least. I hate it for South Carolina, but I am relieved that the worst of it isn't heading straight here.

We unplugged everything before leaving, to prevent equipment loss from surges/spikes/brownouts.
