I've used the 'magic' code 27 times in the last two days and am now feeling vaguely uncomfortable, as though I am ripping off Kobo. Surely a company as large as Kobo has the awareness and capability to fix a bug in the system early. No doubt Kobo is even aware of this forum. This must be intentional. Any thoughts?

"Someone" did send them an anonymous tip about their problem with the new check out and contest codes, how fast they act on it is up to them.

Regarding the lack of email confirmations, I contacted customer care and was advised the following:
We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience but the delay with the delivery of the purchase confirmation emails is being caused by the system and we are currently working to fix it. |

My thoughts are that Kobo has been changing its various websites and associated pages for quite some time now and rolling out the changed sites/pages according to their own plan.
We the consumer have been using these variations, or seeking out alternative Kobo sites/pages where we didn't like them, eg using IE 9 instead of say Firefox in order to continue to use the 'old look' site in preference to the 'new look' site. Some of the changes that Kobo has made to their 'new look' site include no longer providing written information describing the DRM status and format status. Kobo has a voice into Mobileread via the Kobo devices sub forum where certain members are part of their beta testing group and apparently converse on various aspects of firmware, and perhaps other matters, directly with Kobo representatives. It is commendable that Kobo does this, irrespective of whether the views of the beta testing group are acted upon or not - the point is that Kobo does directly relate into Mobileread and provide testing material to the purposeful group of its own accord. Kobo no doubt also has other testing groups to suit its various purposes. I fail to see how Kobo could not have properly and thoroughly tested this new aspect to its website - the 'new look' checkout. It defies testing logic that a checkout wouldn't be absolutely tested and re-tested because of its importance to the business end of Kobo. If voucher codes are being accepted by the 'new look' checkout when they should not have been accepted then Kobo needs to react and fix whatever it is that is not working as it should. If however the 'new look' checkout was being tested this weekend (I don't know how long it's been in use) and the codes were allowed to be used and used again in order to sweeten the yet more changes to the website as a whole - then that has been successfully achieved and Kobo will reset the code dialogue box to not accept re-usable codes. As a consumer I don't know what Kobo intended but I can say that I quite like the 'new look' checkout. |

![]() I think that as it is unusual not to receive a Kobo Order Receipt email after a purchase that it's just as well that there is credit card/paypal confirmation of the purchase price. |

I've had a book completely disappear from my library and didn't keep the receipt. From now on, I have been, just in case it happens again, so I can prove I've purchased it and can request that they return it to my account.

Ok, it was a penguin book, Eyrie, that must be the problem. I thought it must've become coupon eligible as it didn't have the coupon box originally.
I just got into work on another book, so happy days. Thank you! |

I thought Paypal was removed also, but I found it. "Payment Methods" was grayed out, but when I clicked on the "edit info" button on the right, it opened up where I could choose paypal or credit card.
See if your screen gives you the "edit info" button. Hopefully this will help. |
