A tip of the hat to those who actually exercise.

Ricky, you don't need to exercise, you work hard enough for four strong men as it is!

I stand (sit) corrected. And now, back to our regularly scheduled venting and ranting.

I have three weeks off from classes. The crochet bug has bitten me again, and now that I actually have time to indulge, guess what? I can't buy yarn anywhere within a forty mile radius!! I didn't think yarn was an esoteric commodity, but maybe I was wrong. All I'm looking for is sock yarn - everyone is making socks these days, they're fun, fast, and fairly easy, so you'd think someone around here would carry it. Nooooo....and there are no yarn specialty shops closer than Rockford, which is too far for me to drive and get there before they close after taking Chris to work (second shift scheduling).
That leaves ordering it online -which I've been amazingly good at, so far, but I don't really have the time to wait on the orders to get here, by the time I get the yarn, it'll be time to start classes again!

No yarn?! That's horrible. Know someone who lives near a yarn shop and would be willing to buy for you and deliver?

Walmart usually carries yarn --- or do socks require a special kind of yarn?

Aaaaaand, Maytag sent the wrong farking part!! So, it will be another few weeks until I (perhaps) have a functioning dishwasher.

I am thinking of organizing a mob and lynching the "Maytag Repair Man" .... not the real guy who came to the house, he's nice, but the icon used for advertising. What a lie that ad is .... the products are supposedly so good and reliable that the repair people have nothing to do. Complete and total crap!!

He's in his fourth or fifth incarnation, but if I ever find him .... he's so seriously dead, there won't be any coming back.

Make them send out a whole new dishwasher. Then they can take the needed part off that. [or, just install the new one!]

That's sort of what I just suggested to Maytag (in between obscenities).

I WISH! Unfortunately, no, no such luck.

No, I'm in Dixon. 50 miles or so south of Rockford. And I've been there all of once, at night and I wasn't driving, so I'm not about to take off up there by myself.

Sock yarn is a special blend, usually part wool or cotton and part nylon, for stretch and snap back so they don't get all saggy. It's also a very light weight. Usually even lighter than baby yarn.
Our Walmart today had nothing even close, and didn't have all the ribbon I need for fringing the scarves I made, either. I'm going to HAVE to find someone to go with me to Rockford, or at least DeKalb to Michael's. Although I'm not sure they'd have what I want either.
