That's stunning. I love the colors, too. Yamaha makes nice bikes.

Several years ago I took part in a poker run with a friend who at the time rode a Yamaha V-Max. We were joined by a fellow we met who, like me at the time, had a Sportster. I forgot what we we had in our cups that day (have to stay on topic!), but the other Sportster rider and I were curious to see the legendary V-Max at full throttle, so we began goading him with comments such as how the Max was over-rated and how he couldn't even keep up with Sportsters and the like. Finally he could take no more, so this normally very law-abiding biker her rip and left us in the dust. When we finally caught up (he waited for us), I asked him, "Didn't you see the Blue Knights motorcycle club at the gas station when you put that thing into warp drive?"

"No," he said, "but so what?"

"Don't you know who the Blue Knights are?" I asked.

"Not really."

"They're all cops! Where do you think they got the name Blue Knights?"

Yes, I wanted to see what his muscle-bike was capable of, and I helped pressure him into flooring the accelerator (or should I say, twisting his hand to the "Max"), but I never expected him to wait until he was in front of a cop club to strut his stuff! Fortunately it appeared that the Knights were more interested in their day off poker run than in pursuing a speeder, as they didn't go after him.

The V-Max is a very large engine with a small seat on top of it. No doubt it's a 'muscle bike.' The 2009 Yamaha V-Max is powered by 1679cc liquid-cooled 4-stroke DOHC 65 degree V4 engine. It's geared to go very, very quickly...

I think if I had one of those I'd get in a lot of trouble.

Now, it's time for another cup of tea... I think it shall be... Keemun!

I remember when the V-max came to Australia back in the 90's... it was quite a beast in the straight line but if you ever came across a corner you were in trouble

Aaah, the 90's... I feel like it's when we really started to come out with some slick machines, who can forget the ZZR-1100 blasting into the record books.

Although my bike is also an 1100, this ZZR has almost three times the horsepower. It's a crotch rocket. But I'm an old man now... the 90's were twenty years and a lot of miles ago. These days I go slowly, savoring the tranquility of the ride rather than the adrenalin rush of yesterday. Outrunning cops is no longer considered sport.

And along with the tranquility... a glass of Bombay Sapphire. (I wonder if they will change the name to Mumbai Sapphire?)

I am smiling because I voted and bought a chocolate donought from the local PTA at the polling place. The pot of Rooibos Ginger certainly helps my mood.

hums (Cause we're the greatest, strongest country in the world...) Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert sang it so it must be true (big wink)
