The 300 is clearly the 505 remplacement, same hardware, nearly same software... Only 1 inch less for the screen.. No seriouslyj the 300 is the "new" 505..

Also, the 600 share the same hardware and software as the 700, same screen... The 600 is a slightly downgraded 700, but not a remplacement for the 505. They are not in the same category

The size/price combo is what's pulling me. I have (and love) my Kindle, but it *just* fits in my purse - I need something that's really portable. (Even though the red on the 600 is just gorgeous! I am having an internal battle.)

There are actually two "Oxford American" dictionaries for sale in the MOBI format: New Oxford American Dictionary for $60 and Concise Oxford American Dictionary for $19.95. The Kindle's all have the New Oxford American Dictionary, with over 250,000 entries and definitions, built in. Probably the PRS-600 will have this version too (the Concise has 180,000 entries and definitions).

The non-US versions will presumably have other dictionaries.

As long as it's not Dutch... I've no need for a Dutch dictionary!

Nevertheless, I wish Sony had thought of the professional users, who need a larger screen of at least 9". For fiction reading my 505 does just fine. For technical stuff I use my DRS1000, which cannot compare to Sony quality, regarding fabrication, material, look and feel and software stability.

I do not care about WiFi. That is a feature I really do not need, since selecting a book from my 'library' is always easier on a computer than on the reader.
Even Amazon has seen the need for a bigger reader. I cannot fathom Sony's business strategy…
Just disappointing…
Sony is waiting for the plastic backed device screen, instead of glass, before plunging into the larger screen model. IMHO this is a better business strategy that will be the best strategy. Sorry you are disappointed but if you broke your screen you would be even more disappointed.

I won't rest until my reader has the full Oxford English Dictionary (all 20 volumes plus the three supplements). Anything less is simply useless!

Say whatever you may, but I think the newer 600 looks a bit better compared to the 700.

I'd still go for a 505,if I needed to buy a new one.

Maybe Sony is waiting for the flexi screens before they do a larger screen Reader. We just don't know. And I think we'll be pleasantly surprised when we see one from Sony.

Yes, let's hope that. Or that it is user-replacable. I guess it makes me lucky that I will most likely have to puchase a Reader from Britain (then I just hope it's a British and not American English dictionary).

Quick Comparison

Astak EZ 6" - 7.2 x 4.7 x .4 -- 7.8 oz
Astak EZ 5" - 6.0 x 4.1 x .4 -- 6.0 oz
Sony 300 5" - 6.2 x 4.2 x .2 -- 7.76 oz
Sony 600 6" - 6.9 x 4.8 x .4 -- 10.1 oz

The Sony 300 is slimmer, but weighs almost 2 oz more than the Pocket Pro. The 600 is much heavier than Astak's 6" reader.

But the 600 is not using a plastic body. So I would expect it to be heavier.

You're not really meaning to imply that this is significant or a reason to choose one over the other are you. What do you have that weights 2 oz? That is quite an insignificant amount.

Good! One of the things I LOVE about my 505 is the solid metal body. Can't imagine spending over $200, or even $300, on something that's cheap plastic, especially since the screens are so fragile.
