Got my Covid booster a couple of days ago (Moderna). Side effects similar to the previous shots. Will get flu shot separately (didn't want to risk double side effects, though I usually don't have problems with the flu shot). Flu in my area usually doesn't become widespread until after Christmas so I've got time.

It was still recommended in the USA back in March, when I was scheduling a breast MRI. I chose to move the MRI later by a few days, so I could get the second Covid booster the day after it was released (April 2). But the MRI people told me they wanted a 3 month delay. (They didn't ask me about the booster when I went for the MRI, however!)

Could be a difference between your (diagnostic/followup)?) MRI and a routine screening mammogram, or just not all radiologists/booking receptionists/etc being completely up to date.

I have an 86 year old neighbour - she has just contracted Covid-19 - for the fourth time.

First infection was contracted on the Norwegian Jewel in March 2020, second was during last years Delta wave, third was February's Omicron BA.2 wave, I assume the latest is a Omicron BA.5 infection.

She says she's vaccinated, but I don't know how many doses. Her family, children and grandchildren, have also had a few bouts. Is there any evidence that some people are more susceptible, other than age and frailty, perhaps genetics.

Behaviour would be the most obvious thing you've omitted. We knew very well that COVID was a thing in March 2020, but she went on a cruise anyway. Does she always wear a proper respirator mask in public spaces? Is she socialising without a mask, like eating out in indoors restaurants or attending maskless family parties?

I scheduled a mammogram this morning. They said I must schedule the appointment 4-6 weeks after having the covid booster. Wish I had known that before getting the covid booster last week.

Its really not over. Its just milder with vaccinations. I am fully vaccinated including the new one that covers the variants. The side effects get lesser and lesser. The most recent shot I had no side effects not even swelling. The first two primary shots I only felt tired and I slept like a baby and a lump in the arm. The boosters were even milder for me.

Mine definitely did not get milder. I had chills, fatigue and various aches and pains with all of the shots.

I got my second booster last week. For the first three shots I had nothing worse than a sore arm -- this time around I had chills and aches and felt overall lousy for a couple of hours. Not really a showstopper, just a bit flu-ish.

I felt lousy about six hours after my first one; no effects from two and three and am about to have my fourth one tomorrow morning!

This last booster, I was a little tired the next day and had a sore spot at injection site for about a week. Much milder.

First vaccine shot, sore arm.
Second vaccine shot, sore arm.
First booster, sore arm.

(All of the above had less soreness than a good weight workout might produce. And lasted about 24 hours. No other symptoms.)

Second booster, increased sore arm. (Slightly worse than any of the above sore arms, lasted a little longer.)

I predict that if/when I get the latest all-variants booster, I'll have a ... SORE ARM.

Fourth jab (Covid Booster) and Flu jab in other arm at same time; no ill effects from the contents of the jabs, but both arms felt bruised afterwards for a couple of days. As though I had been punched hard in the muscle!
