You don't have to get emails - you can just check it regularly...

I just check my eReaderIQ notifications each morning, and depending on how busy I am, I might check them in the evening if I'm at the computer anyway.

Since sometimes I have 20 or 30 notifications (since I follow a lot of authors pub by Open Road, whose titles go on repeat-sale all the time), I'd be driven crazy if I was getting an email for each and every price drop.

The one downside is that if a a price drop is for less than a day (such as might be for a pricing error), I might miss it, but I take the risk to avoid the gazillion emails.

Today's big deal at Amazon UK is the Poldark saga.

11 of the twelve books discounted to £0.99/£1.09. The first book isn't part of the deal, but is only £1.89.

Amy Tan's The Joy Luck Club is $1.99 at Amazon. It's been on sale before, as I bought it back in February. If you haven't ever read it, I'd recommend it.

John Irving's Setting Free the Bears is $2.99 at Amazon. I very much like John Irving, though I haven't read this novel (his first) yet.

I just can't bring myself to pay $10 for a digital file. For a couple bucks I'll pay for the convenience but I don't really mind the hardcover.

The Monastery Murders, by E M Powell is currently £0.99 at Amazon UK.

This is the second (and last so far) in the "Stanton and Barling" series, set around 1176. The first one, The King's Justice, was a freebie earlier this year, which I gave a 5/5 when I read it. "Good characters, plot, and historical details. Recommended."

I read that many, many, years ago, and enjoyed it very much. And while I was a bit too young to see the TV show with the same name in its first run. I do remember the endless reruns on afternoon, after-school TV.

I have always believed the shock and alarm Meynard G. Krebs would shout, "work!" was an accurate reflection of my terrible need to earn a living. And Thalia Menninger's comment that "Love don't butter Parsnips" was a great counter to teen-age love!

It's been many years since I read the book, but I do remember being amazed at Tan's ability to tell 4 distinct stories, but not have the characters be confusing for the reader.

We enjoyed the movie version as well. I've read other books by Amy Tan as well and liked them too.
