I've looked at it, and it doesn't seem like there's any hidden ".txt" extension. I turned on the "view file extensions" option, because that's the only thing I can find in relevance. So unfortunately it seems I'm back to square one, unless there's another way I could possibly see if there's an error with my file. Are there any other things that could tamper with the file being unable to work?

The .com button in the keyboard to quickly write .com dosnt writes .com in the experimental browser I had to wrtite it manually. I suspect it might be the jailbreak.

That^^, plus it is extremely hard to see how installing a single file only examined by the firmware update checker could possibly wreak havoc in the user interface, especially in such a startlingly specific manner.

Even if it wasn't such a bad idea to speculate at complete and utter random at the causes of a bug, the jailbreak is more or less entirely inert and (by design) cannot harm anything.

Hey there,

I have the exact same problem.

I have a PW3 (G090G10......)
It was initialy running 5.7.4.1


I followed every steps. I used update_PW3_5.6.1.1_initial.bin for the downgrade. Got stuck in boot loop that ends with "REPAIR NEEDED"

Repair Code: 2
Version: 2634130033

I added the "DO_FACTORY_RESTORE" file in the root folder (that's the only file/folder there).

It's all CAPS and there is no file extension.

When I reboot it simply keeps doing the exact same thing and comes back to the REPAIR NEEDED screen....

Not sure what went wrong... Thanks for your time and devotion guys! I'll keep my fingers crossed!

@mrricheyrich: IIRC, 4 is the error code for a checksum mismatch. Double check that your download is not corrupt (we provide md5sums for that very reason), both on your computer, *and* once transferred to your Kindle.

You are a wizard! Thanks for the advice. For some reason the bin file downloaded incompletely and I hadn't realised. I'm in the middle of what looks like a successful downgrade.
