This is a result of logging out of the Kobo account, see this post. Last edited by tshering; 06-27-2015 at 05:28 AM. |

Be sure to have installed the latest update of KSM 07 (update 4, see the first post in this thread), download the latest version of vlasovsoft from here and install it as you did the last time. If you like to prevent that it gets deleted when logging out, move the vlasovsoft directory from .kobo to .adds, then reboot the reader. |

Handle update is only present if a firmware update is downloaded.
Vlasofsoft: you mean from the menu? Was it in .adds folder? |

Hi, my glo HD 3.15.0 already install nightmode from surquizu (https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=257246). Should I remove it before installing KSM07? Thanks.

Since you have a Glo HD, be aware that you can only use a limited set of the available options of KSM. Have a look at the warning (in red color) of the first post of the current thread. |

Sorry tshering, I am new to Kobo and I'm no techno geek. After re-read again and again, the more I got confused, what is that programming thing?. I just want to use cool reader, not fancy things on my device. Can you please tell me the simplest way to get coolreader as the default reader. I have already install the KSM07. Thanks

i everyone.
I have very big issues with my kobo aura hd and kobo start menu. Two days ago i was in nickel and i was notified that a firmware update was avaible. i touched cancel. Then i went in kobo start menu and tried to update nickel from there, but after all the night i realised that the update was frozen. And nickel won't start anymore. Then i updated KSM to update 4 and now my ereader is completely useless, many options in KSM can't be touched, for example i am not able to enable usb, when i try to scan for wifi networks i can't see anything, and if i try to start koreader or nickel the only thing that happens is that my screen flips. Please can someone help me?I would uninstall and reinstall KSM, but without being able to enable usb i can't transfer files on my ereader. Thanks |

It sounds like the Kobo firmware update might not have fully downloaded or been damaged in the download. You probably need to do a "factory reset". You just hold the power slider for a count of 20 or so, to make sure it is off. Then hold down the frontlight switch and hold the powerslider again till the light is flashing.
Then you will have your device back to as it was when you first got it. Luck; Ken |

I used this, and the tools it links to, to upgrade my Aura HD.
You can also do this with your internal uSD card, when your USB is not available: "If you can remove the internal uSD card (see above) you can mount it in windows, using "Bootice". Windows will not recognize the uSD card, as it is used in your device, because the partition table has a Linux type partition as the first partition. BootICE can be used to change the partition table so the FAT32 (KOBOeReader) partition is first in the partition table, and Windows will then see it and give it a drive letter. If you save the partition table both before and after changing the partition table, (Bootice lets you save and restore the partition table) you can "restore" the partition table to how you need it for your Kobo or to how you need it so Windows can use it. First you will need BOOTICE, (there are different versions for 32 and 64 bit OS) Then you can remove your Kobo devices internal uSD card, from your device and plug it into the reader on your PC. Open Bootice and check that the "Destination Disk" is your uSD card. Select the "Parts Manage" button and "Backup Partition Table", to save the existing partition arrangement so it can be restored easily after you are done. [I save mine in the same folder I keep my backup image files.] Give it a name like "Original_ Kobo.dpt" Then select the "KOBOeReader" partition and click on the "Set Accessible" button. It should move to the top of the list. Now backup the partition table again and give it a name like; "AuraHD_FAT1st.dpt" Close and exit Bootice. Open Windows Explorer and you should now have the FAT32 partition mounted and you can modify its contents. When you are done, you open Bootice and restore the original partition table, that you saved earlier. Your uSD card should now work in your Kobo device again, with the changes you made in effect. Now all you need to do to "Mount" the uSD card with the FAT32 accessible (for updates, ect.), is to "Restore" the FAT1st version of the partition table. Then make your changes and then restore using the backup of the original partition table." Luck; Ken Last edited by Ken Maltby; 07-04-2015 at 11:07 AM. |
