And we are willingly at their beck and call. It's just easier when we're willing.

Um...yes?
In fact, we should send Echos to third-world countries instead of current aide packages.

Well, yeah, when it's this song:

And I'm only partly joking. My playcount for that song across all my devices has to be waaay up there by now.

But for me, 90% of the draw of the Echo is that I don't have to stop what I'm doing and go to the device. I just ask her for the song, the weather, to do math for me, random questions... And though I don't have any automation stuff going on yet, having to press a button to get Alexa to turn off the light would just ruin all of the fun. (And defeat the purpose. I mean, if I gotta get up anyway I might as well just turn it off myself.)

I think it really comes down to what you're using it for. Matter of preference.

Can't argue with that.

How about Frank, Sammy, Dean and Johnny Carson?

Though this video doesn't say it, that performance is from the Frank Sinatra Spectacular in 1965. Johnny Carson was subbing for Joey Bishop. Count Basie and Quincy Jones were there as well. The performance is available on DVD as part of the Live & Swingin' cd /dvd set.

To keep it somewhat on topic - I have all of these amazing men, singing to me on voice command!

They're both GREAT, but I think I like Sammy just a wee bit better. Thank you both for those links!

AKA the Dismas House benefit. I have that in my Sinatra collection. What great entertainers they were!

Yes! My Sinatra collection is far from complete, because I'm simultaneously trying to collect everything from Dean and Sammy at the same time. The movies, the music, the live performances... anything I can get my hands on. I must have it all.

Yup, totally. Matter of preference.

I stick to Sinatra; I only have Martin and Davis when they were working with Sinatra. Sinatra did so much outside the recording studio--all the radio work in the early years, and the concert tours at the end. There's a lot of material the Sinatra folks could release officially that's already in circulation among collectors; I don't know why they're sitting on it or just letting it out in dribs and drabs.

Have you seen this Sinatra release? It mixes Sinatra vocals from original Columbia releases with newly recorded music of the original arrangements. Interesting result.

Here's another Sinatra CD of previously unreleased material--available only from the Smithsonian: Sinatra Lost and Found: The Radio Years.

OK, I'll try to keep my Sinatra mania under control now.
