Amazon Prime "No Rush Shipping" changes

Hooray ! The $2 dollar credit is back, I did order gifts for Christmas with 2 day prime shipping , I didn't want to take a chance that they wouldn't be in time for Christmas Eve. Now I can order a few simple things and not worry about when they come in, and take advantage of the $2 credit for e books.

I've got orders that have been saying shipping today since yesterday afternoon but still haven't . Ideally, I'd rather have them turn up after Xmas rather than just before. My no rush orders from Saturday have all arrived already though (some yesterday, the rest this morning).

The six orders I placed yesterday have shipped, with a Thursday delivery. I've placed three more orders overnight, I doubt anything else will be shipped until next week.

So have mine now, I'm about 99% sure that they'll be delivered tomorrow rather than Thursday though, despite what the computer says!

I think they'll keep shipping out as much as they can as quickly as they can, even the no-rush orders... There's a banner on Amazon saying that Boxing day sales start on the 24th at 4pm so I assume they won't want a backlog of orders clogging things up.

Edit: loving the cheap deals: bought 2 PC games for £1 each, getting £6 digi credits I'll give the games to a charity shop in Januray so that they can make a few £ out of it too

For those in the UK, in case you haven't seen it yet, there's currently another PC game for £1 that qualify for the £3 no-rush credit ; and several more coming up at 4pm - I'm assuming that at least some will be down to £1.

The purchase made on the Fire TV let hubby choose whether to use coins or pay for the app. He chose use coins and then had to click ok on a confirmation that he wanted to use coins. The other choice was to pay for the app. I would think this choice to pay for the app is what should have used the credits.

I just got off the phone with Amazon, and the way it works now is that the promotional credits are used to purchase coins which are then used to purchase the app! I just checked my coins account and there is nothing there that says coins were purchased, and I already had 3200 coins so new ones did not need to be purchased. The email for the purchase was not very clear as to exactly what happened:
Item Subtotal: 999 Coins
Promotions: -900 Coins
Total Before Tax: 99 Coins
Tax Collected: 6 Coins
Grand Total: 105 Coins


I said I wanted to return the app because I would never have purchased it if I couldn't use coins. I was told that the promotional credits could not be refunded and I would only be refunded for the 105 coins that were used! I argued about that and finally I was told I could get a credit issued. I got an email that stated: "As a one time exception I've issued a $9.00 promotional certificate to your Amazon.com account". Amazon CS is not what it used to be.

I just checked my promotional credit emails, and I have one from Nov 17 that does not apply to the Amazon App store and one from Nov 28 that does. So sometime between those is when they started including the App store. They really should have thought a little more about how it would work along with coins before they added it. I wonder how many others have lost digital credits when they still had coins available.

I will be getting $26 more in slow ship credits, but I will probably not bother with them anymore if I can't decide how they will be used.

I would feel the same way you do Purple Lady. They should show options for payments, like checked boxes. Check off which box for payment .... coins, or credits. I am really starting to think the best deal is 2 day shipping. At least in the US. They are making it harder to stay with slow shipping, first Pantry & now this, can't win.

I didn't notice it until I wanted to order other merchandise and found my gift card balance had been reduced. It was confusing dealing with CS because by that time, the digital credits had expired. Amazon eventually got it straightened out.

Anyway, the moral of the story is that if you also have a gift card on your account, you might want to check right away to see that your digital credits are applied properly to a digital purchase.

If you see the quote above from Catlady, they also mess up when you have a gift card. Though it does seem Amazon at least worked with her to get it fixed. I had to argue with them.

That's good to know about checking gift cards too. I know when I order something ,the gift card box is always pre marked, at check out. I don't always want to use my gift card to purchase things. I always check and un mark it first before proceeding to check out. That's another reason I don't use 1 click checkout, if I did I wouldn't have any gift cards left. :smack

Umm... I may have overdone the promotional credit thing. I now have £151.62 in promotional credit, nearly all to be spent by 31st Jan or 15th February.

I have a book buying budget for 2016 of £240. I have subscriptions that will take up £93.37 of that budget. Leaving me with £146.63. [edit] Luckily I can spend some of the credit this year, so I should be able to use it all without breaking my budget.

But it looks like I'll be spending my entire discretionary book budget for the year by 15th February!

If you can hold to that, you have iron will and I honor you.

But, seriously, not to undermine you or anything, should you put a leetle more slack into this? Perhaps discount those credits a bit? While there's still time to adjust your goals? That's nearly 46 weeks of not buying books, no matter what! I'm just extrapolating from my own experiences when my resolutions have been too draconian. They should pinch, not strangle. A girdle rather than a corset, as it were.

Suppose there's another Kobocalypse?
