The option I like is "pin to the front" (hard press book/app and it will pop up) I pin the book I am currently reading plus the apps that I tend to use daily of which there is only a few and that way they are always right there when I open the phone. I do not even concern myself with the carousel anymore.

I use pin to front too but I have a huge library so letting all those books on my phone wrecks havoc on my battery life and causes phone to act up. I've contacted support but no luck in getting them to understand the problem.

I guess that's an advantage of a no-data plan. I don't turn wifi on often. No problems with battery drain. I have books and audio books on it. I don't have a huge back log on my carousel, never did.

Wish my KF6 had such a good battery life. It goes from 100 to 50 in a couple of hours, reading with wifi off. It's the only thing I don't like about that device!

The only ones I having problems with are on the Amazon account. The Side loaded ones behave LOL Amazon ones are also the ones I have the matching Audibles... deleting them not an option. Tho I don't keep all the audibles on the phone.

When reading a book Yes its on the carosel but I don't pin it. When done I just remove from carosel

Another one that pops up & I don't even use it is the Prime Music! I cant even remove it from device!

How big is your library? Mine is like 12,000 now. So I can't have all those books bogging down my phone. I only use WiFi my phone has not yet traveled anywhere. My KF6 does not have that problem. I charge it like every few days. My Phone has about the same battery life.

My KF6 is draining battery like mad. I uninstalled some things so have to see how long it holds the charge, now.

You don't have to be wealthy to build up a collection of thousands of freebies and sale items.

I haven't bought all those that. Right now My husband has been out of work for a year. We have no money but freebies are plenty in Kindle World. Some were bought on sale back when he did have a job before we moved to Raleigh. I still pick up a 99 cent book now and then but I have cut my spending down 98% but I pick up about 20 freebies in a good week if you know where to look. Freebies aren't as good as they once was but when Prime Lending was intro all the authors was flocking to it and that's when I grabbed alot of good freebies about 60 a week now you have to really wade through the slush pile to find anything good.

The huge problem is Amazon hasn't really done much for us with large libraries. You database can get corrupt still and go nuts. I had to on my Kindle Fire 7 rebuild it just last month because it kept syncing over and over and over. On the phone where the Carousel houses all your books in your library this is a nightmare for someone who has that many books.

Have you look to see if you got locations services on? That could do it? Check what apps are running in background. You got a severe drain issue and just need to figure out what it is. I had one like that on my Kindle HD7 and it turn out to be the Kindle app itself. Had to clear data and let it rebuild all over again.

I did have location services on, so I have now disabled it.

Oddly enough, GSAM battery monitor (Kindle Tablet Edition) seems to use more battery than anything else.

Hmm if that is the case I would uninstall it, restart then reinstall it. It could have gotten corrupted.

I think there is also an option for Amazon to record to your usage I would turn that off too.

I'm sorry to hear about your hubby! I have left the corporate world myself and taking care of my mother (lumbar spine fractures) who is bedridden so I understand low income!

I was thinking at $9.99 a book * 12,000 would be a bill of $119,880.00. I never have found any of the free books to be something I would read. I do use my public lib ebooks and I have to wait but they have books from the big publishers!
