Just go to Preferences/Plugins/Load plugin from file/ and point the way to the .zip file you have downloaded (do not unzip it, just leave it as it is). Then restart Calibre and it should be active.

Morning!
I have read through every message regarding this issue as far as help is concerned and I'm now at my wits end. I'm not completely illiterate when it comes to technology but I feel like I've been whooped on this one. I have an iPad Mini 3 with the iOS 8.1.2, I've purchased Marvin 2.8.1, I'm running Calibre 2.14 and have the iOS reader plugin 1.4.4 and the Marvin XD plugin 1.2.4..... I am not having any luck whatsoever with Calibre detecting my iPad. I have uninstalled Calibre multiple times as well as the Marvin program from my iPad. I've performed the steps below as instructed: 1) Checked the 'Prevent iPods, iPhones and iPads from syncing automatically' within iTunes 2) With the iPad disconnected I've launched Calibre and went into Preferences-->Plugins-->Load plugin from file and pointed to the iOS reader applications.zip file first....selected 'Yes' when asked if I was sure it was a trusted file. Selected 'OK' when the message came up showing the plugin was installed successfully and that I needed to restart Calibre. Because I've done this so many times I wasn't taking any more chances. I then exited out of Calibre and launched once more. 3) With the iPad disconnected I've launched Calibre and gone into Preferences-->Plugins-->Load plugin from file and pointed to the Marvin XD.zip file......selected 'Yes' when asked if I was sure it was a trusted file. Selected 'OK' when the message came up showing the plugin was installed successfully and that I needed to restart Calibre. 4) I launched Calibre again....selected Preferences-->Plugins-->Device Interface Plugins. I highlighted the iOS reader applications (1.4.4) by Wulf C. Krueger plugin and selected 'Customize plugin'. 5) I selected Marvin from the drop-down list as my Preferred iOS reader application and selected OK. 6) Once this was done I selected Apply, then Close and logged out of Calibre once more. 7) Launched Calibre-->Preferences-->Interface-->Toolbar-->The main toolbar when a device is connected - it was at this point that I found that the Marvin XD plugin appears to have not installed? 8) This time I selected 'Get new plugins' and browsed the User Plugins that were installed. I found that Marvin XD had the small + symbol so I selected the plugin and selected 'Install'....selected 'Yes' when asked if I was sure it was a trusted file. Selected 'OK' when the message came up showing the plugin was installed successfully and that I needed to restart Calibre. 9) Launched Calibre-->Preferences-->Toolbar-->The main toolbar when a device is connected and ensured that Marvin XD was showing in the 'Current Actions'. 10) Logged out once more, launched Calibre once more and connected the iPad to the computer. 11) I then launched Marvin on the iPad and selected Get Books-->Calibre Nothing happens after that.....as I've mentioned, I've performed the steps backwards and forwards and cannot seem to resolve the issue. I should also mention that I removed the Plugins several times by going to Preferences-->Miscellaneous-->Open calibre configuration directory-->Plugins and removed the below files and reinstalled at different times: iOS_reader_applications_resources Marvin_XD_resources iOS reader applications.json iOS reader applications.zip Marvin XD.json Marvin XD.zip If anyone is willing to assist me I'd be extremely grateful!!! Thank You! |

@YvonneA - If you look a few posts above yours, someone else has had a very similar problem.
The IOSRA plugin support and development is in a bit of a limbo, because the owner of this thread seems to have disappeared. Therefore there is no official support for the iPad Mini 3, but help is at hand, because there is an unofficial version here https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...&postcount=342 which should work with your new IPad. |

Since I have moderation privileges for this sub-forum, I'll be happy to update the plugin in the first post, if needed. While I dont normally like to interfere with a plugin maintainer's thread, in this case since the maintainer has been missing in action for a while, I am willing to make an exception.

ShellShock -
I cannot express how grateful I am that you had read and acknowledged my post. I removed the original iOS plugin I had been working with and downloaded and pointed to the more updated iOS plugin.....FIREWORKS!!! I am now able to use Calibre and Marvin on my iPad! Now, I feel comfortable giving my son my Kindle!!!! Thank you so much! Yvonne |

Done. Feel free to ping me in the future if more updates need to be made.
And, if Philantrop does not return, and someone wants to take over maintainership of this plugin, I'm willing to transfer ownership. It will require creating a new thread for the plugin, as MR has no way of changing owner of an existing thread that I know of. |

Well, technically it is v1.4.4.0.1 since I didn't want to clash during updates while still showing this as more recent.
![]() If necessary I would be happy to maintain the plugin... by which I mean manage the thread and answer questions to the best of my knowledge. I certainly won't be doing major updates, since I don't own any Apple devices, but I could commit to sticking around and merging others' work (if that is ever necessary) and adding new USB IDs. |

Philantrop logged in to MR yesterday I see... but no real activity. Wonder what is going on.

Lets give him a little more time, if he still hasn't returned by the time the next updates need to be made, I will do the transfer.
