My current book has dragged my projected pages for the year down from 45k to 40k, which is still well above my goal. If I finish March at the same pace I have been reading, I will likely increase my yearly goal.

Prior to the second half of last year, I had never hit 3,000 pages read in a month, I have now done it 4 times including the last 3 months in a row. The first year I kept track of pages, I only broke the 2000 page/month mark 5 times and averaged less than that, so this is a significant increase.

Pages/Month Chart

Yeah, but I doubt it did any good for your TBR. I suddenly have more books than I can read for the next 6 months, and that's if I don't buy any more, and don't read any of my back list. Especially since, in the midst of this spree, I saw a Miss Silver book on Amazon for a bargain price. Which then made me take a look at Gutenberg.ca, where I found four more. (Darn, they should ALL be there, but I guess not yet.) Which really makes me want the rest of them. It's been years since I read any, but they were such a delight.

If I count the books bought but not available to me yet this month, I've bought a gross* of ebooks so far this year, and only read 40 or so. But I have also removed another 50+ from my TBR, because two of those 40 I've read have been calibre-created anthologies of short stories.

If I keep up this reading speed, I might just end 2014 with fewer books on my TBR than I started.

It's a good problem to have, but it does show a lack of will-power in the face of ebook bargains.

*Yes, really! My total bought is exactly 144!

Not at all...I can safely say that this was the first and the last time I read it.

lol I love these. I completed my 50 book-reading challenge last year which was not an easy feat. I wasn't choosy about it though, that was why when I completed my challenge I was partly celebrating and partly doubtful. Because among all the other books I've read I only remember a few that is actually really note-worthy.

I did a complete read-through once, just to be able to say that I did. Just read a bit of it each night. Took me about a year.

I have to learn how to create and take apart omnibus' using Calibre. I didn't know you could do this stuff with it and it also would be nice to do some of the little fixes for keeper books.

I found it helpful to join book groups on Goodreads that are specific for your genre. You will find that the quality of what you read goes up if you hit on the right group (most suited to your preferences).

I'm glad I was ahead in February because March reading has slowed down with visiting relatives who had a house fire. At best, I expect them to be with us through March, but I might be surprised. My cousin has already taken their cat, so that won't be an issue when they look for a rental. Was listening to Enter A Murderer by Ngaio Marsh and will again when I find the power cord to charge it up again. That is a problem you don't have with a book. It doesn't just stop in the middle of the book because the battery ran low. On the Kindle keyboard, I'm reading Escape Velocity (Christopher Stasheff).

Hate to break it to you, but the eight free parts aren't the whole thing. The collected version (Nook link) adds a concluding ninth part, about 100 pages and not released separately.

Thanks so much! I didn't know it was a serialized book. Wondered why it was all free. It is way cheaper through Amazon or Kobo. I'll get the full ebook if I find that I like it. I've never read this author, but some of the Star Wars books I never finished because I couldn't stand the style of writing.

edited to add: Decided to put this book on hold. I am already over budget for a couple of months, so want to resist buying something else. The Sith will wait.
