They changed it so now your 1st alliance e-book is at #20, and your 2nd at #25, and people who're already past #10 in the old system and got a coupon have to wait until #25 for the next (which will cost some double-digit millions, incidentally).

I've got 30 people who've decided ally me for whatever reason, and I can just barely afford to re-ally #19, if I decide not to level just yet. I don't think I'm going to make it to that second alliance coupon any time soon.

Orlok, I recently joined my 21st alliance (thx for the mil, nightcolors!), it cost me more than a million bucks. You're currently supposed to get a coupon at 10 and 25 alliances that *you* join. Ten have joined *me*, haven't gotten any coupons for that. Those who join me get first pick of the gifts though

Oh, I'm at 30822 population at level 12 but I've been deliberately increasing population in order to get more bucks. I get 480,353 bucks per cycle but it was almost 500K before I took a whack instead of losing all my military.

I've got one food core and two energy cores, the lowest I think is at level 7. They're one space from eachother so that I can null out using only one asset-space. I've got 7 thorium reactors, they upgrade well. The Encyclopedia Galactica is great for emergency bucks. I've put an ansible between the cores in order to null out bliss-production from them.

Thanks for the info. Will have to get to 20 Alliances and see what happens. I think I fall into the category of already having over 10 before the change was made, so I may now have to wait for 25 (if I ever get there...).

Hmm - I clicked on the redeem button well over an hour ago and still haven't received anything (have double-checked my e-mail, everything is correct; nothing in the spam folder either). Is it normal for it to take some time?

My third coupon took a while to show up, but that was most likely due to something on my end, as the logs showed it had been promptly delivered.

I think I might have overdone my 'bliss burn' maneuver. Going to take 5 cycles to recover the required energy.

Definitely proven - my people are barren.
I missed a cycle at night (and luckily did not get whacked either) and in the morning all the stats were the same as I left them, exept for bliss loss ca 4000.


@ Crusader - Is it a hint that you need bliss boost? (storms enthusiastically to the hoard)

Could be worse. I was at 21, so need to get to 30 for a coupon.

Estimated that if you have no bad bankers show up, if you can surge 2.5 million/cycle, will take roughly 23 years to get enough to ally up to the 5th free book...

There's a thread at the Baen Bar asking "do we have close to 500 playtesters, or is it just the five of you managing a huge number of pseuds each?"

They're fine with an extra account to test the settings (I'm considering getting one to try Optimal Purchasing Arrangements); they're not too worried, at this point, about countless scammers signing up & pushing to level 5 and maybe 10 alliances to get two books, and then quitting.

Although they will need to do something about inactive accounts, because any long-term login website is going to get those. Maybe have a way to note which people haven't logged in for a while. (A note about "been a while" for people who've been inactive for a week, and after two months, their name moves off the active-duty list?)
