Meanwhile ...back on topic, the Kindle takes another hit as the Sacramento Public Library makes available over 100 pre-loaded Nook Classics for loan.

So for them, the Kindle cannot read library books (which is, after all, the point of the thread), even if for someone else it could. For people using devices that already require layers of PC software, it might be much less of a hurdle, but the Kindle has been designed to avoid all that. |

![]() I've said it before in this thread; If borrowing library ebooks is high on your list of priorities, I could not in good conscience, recommend that you buy a Kindle (even though I own one). My stance on the relative ease/difficulty of de-DRM'ing ebooks is to be taken as a completely separate (but related) issue... sorry for the derail. |

I forgot to add my desktop. I'll have to edit my post. I do the same thing you do. It's much easier to manage my books on my desktop.

OK, all you book lovers in Mobile Read land (and speaking in particular about all the mistakes that stand out like dogs' whatnames on display in the ebooks available), what would you rather have: a book proofread properly by a human or one that's been scanned by an OCR?
Do those jarring literals in the text make your hair stand on end or do you (a) ignore them, (b) not worry about them, (c) fail to see them or (d) simply shrug and accept them as the price you have to pay for living in this electronic world? Last edited by John the Miner; 04-15-2011 at 04:55 AM. |

if a sample of an ebook shows too many errors than i am comfortable with, then i don't buy it, simple as that. i would want it to be properly edited, especially since they insist on slapping the price that they want on it.

How many errors in a text should you "feel comfortable with"?
