*scratch*

Do you save the settings into a string, which is now invalid because of that typo or something?

I'm going to use strings for everything in the future and convert when needed. Typing (and performance) be damned

I also confess to not understanding what the docking options meant.

However (bug or not) I have been able to drag the TOC view to appear as a long column between Code view and Preview, i.e. as per Sigil layout. So for that.

Are we say the TOC display is not 'live' or the NCX is not live.

IMHO Manually launched NCX (re-)creation is a feature that was added into Sigil(3?).
Not all NCX (TEXT) entries are identical to those in the body of the book.

Please leave the regeneration of the NCX as a user button/menu item only. (A stale TOC (item) indicator is not objectionable)

Even before this change, it was possible to dock the TOC and File Browser so the appear as a Tabbed window (same as possible in Sigil) ONLY When Docked

Possible, but not advertised I did it accidentally

You'll find the gains in your productivity to be so large that you will swear off using statically typed languages entirely.

@jackie: Yeah that is a result of the allow nested docked windows option. That one has no bug, the bug I was referring to affected the options to control which windows occupy the corners.

@theducks: I think jackie means having two docked windows side by side in the vertical dock, not in tabs.

@Kovid, Thanks for the explanation of what should happen. However what seems to be happening on this book is that if I click on a word within a paragraph in the preview pane it positions the cursor in the code pane at the beginning of the line before the opening <p> tag for that paragraph. If I click on italic text in preview it takes me to the line before the one with the <em> tag. Conversely if I click in the code pane on a word it takes the preview pane to the beginning of the next opening <p> or if there is a line containing italics later in the paragraph clicked it takes the preview to where the <em> for the italics begins.

Yes, I know; but in my line of daily work speed is of paramount importance. (Embedded software in real time systems.)

Cool. That does indeed provide a lot more options for layout. Thanks

Hi, I've just seen your new image inserting tool and I suppose that you have just started a path of adding similar tools like links and others.

But maybe you haven't thought about these possible improvements about images:
  • In the image inserting tool giving the option of <svg> + <image> instead of the more basic <img>.
  • In this last case, (or even within <img> when possible) giving the user a GUI to some of the possible settings in the import window like: absolute rendered size (as example I want the image rendered at 150% of its original size in pixels), relative rendered size (as example I want the image rendered at 50% of the container size), preserve aspect ratio or not in the last case, and so on. Of course, you won't be possibly able to cover all the existing combinations and possible settings, but the more common ones would be more than enough. (I'm in no way expert about all the possibilities that <svg>+<image> or <img> actually offer).
  • Check for strange image size settings within Check Book (or even in the right click menu inside each image/image editor). I mean, right now you can actually trim, rotate or resize images and normally some of the <svg>+<image> parameters actually refer to the size of the bitmap in pixels. Of course you can use settings that do not match the image size if you want to get some special effects. But, in the 90% of the mismatch cases, they're just plain errors. Therefore, a warning about this situation would be great.
  • Continuing with the previous one, please consider automatically updating those parameters in referenced images when you crop/resize/rotate them. (At least when the original parameters do actually match the image size. Or even better, ask the user if he/she wants this automatic update on each one of the references in the book).

@katsunami: I was kidding, I am a strong believer in using the right tool for the job. There are plenty of contexts where using C/C++ is the right thing to do.

@BobC: Sounds like an off by one error when calculating line numbers for this book, but I will need the book to be able to debug.

@arspr: Patches welcome

@Kovid. I would welcome my patches more than you. But as I said no coding knowledge here, I'm afraid. As always, a suggestion, with no hurry, (even if never), with no pretended pressure on you (or other possible coders BTW). Just little desires if you are sometime bored...
