Oh, I've heard of "jimmy a lock". It didn't strike me as releted to your usage, but OK. And that "urban dictionary" definition for "jimmy-rigged" may go further with the definition; I'm not allowed to open "urban dictionary" from work. (They block it.)

edit: Actually, from the detective novels I read, jimmying a lock isn't really *forcing* it. It's opening it with something besides the key. They still have to gently move each lock pin or cyllinder. [With a lock pick tool of some sort.] So I'm not certain those two definitions are related?

Trying to find new book series for my mother to read. She has now discovered Ann Cleeves, so I've got a bit of time. But it's getting harder and harder to find things for her to read. Our tastes are very similar, though I also like the grittier crime series and she doesn't mind it when a series is somewhat formulaic. So up until now I've given her tips about series she might like. But it looks like it's time she learns how to look for books on Amazon herself.

I just woke up hungry. It was a long day yesterday. I got so sick I didn't want food. It must have been a 24 hour virus but the entire left side of my neck lymphnodes down to collarbone was really swollen. So much it made my heart beat erratic. Almost went to the ER but without insurance I didn't need a bill I couldn't pay. I found by not moving my neck it kept my heart from doing that so some Motrin and a hot compress later with lots of rest and I was on the mend. I feel much better today. Almost all swelling is gone.

Having an afternoon beer. It's my birthday and we're on holiday in Madrid for a few nights. I've been really busy at work lately so it's good to have a break.

Now, sat in a hospital waiting room in Madrid. My 81 year old father in law is with us and he took a tumble and, they think, he's dislocated his shoulder and broken his humerus.

On the whole, I think I preferred the beer drinking!

Update is that it was a dislocated shoulder, but no break thankfully. They've put the shoulder back into place (which was no fun whatsoever) and we're just waiting for the confirmation that it's OK before we can leave.

I just discovered that GOG.com now has Caesar IV! I loved that game, eventually I stopped playing because there was a bug that if you had a newer, a better and/or a faster processor than the game developers anticipated your town would develop fires at a rapid rate.

I assume this problem is now solved, so I've bought it and am now downloading it.

I spent the week binge reading so after I finally got hubby off to work this morning as he is so NOT a morning person, I'm cleaning like a mad woman. I can't justify reading anymore without doing something and it's the weekend which means he will notice I've been slacking all week.
