About to go to bed and read for a bit.

I just started the third season of The West Wing and it starts with a special episode made just after the 9/11 attacks. It made me sad, because if you change the word "Taliban" to "Isis" it could have been an episode made for the current situation in the world.

That doesn't surprise me. I live in a small town of 100,000. Area has 250,000.
There is a 50% chance if not greater that whoever makes the news will either be related, we know them or we knew someone that was close to them. Or in a couple of cases, more than one of those.

100,000 isn't a small town to me If that's a small town then I'm from a micro town of 2,000 and that includes rural area.

The town I live in now has 4,000. So I guess small town though I see it as a suburb.

Okay I had to look this up. Our entire county population is 220,000. That is 664sq miles.

My point exactly. It isn't surprising at all, you had friends and relatives that knew the person.
Why did I think you lived in a big city?

And no 100,000 isn't that small unless you seem to know half the town.
And this town while being a bit smaller than the town we previously lived in, we don't run into as many people as we did there.
But then it was only after the two towns combined at conventions that businesses really started coming in.
When I was growing up, there was one then 2 roads connecting the towns and literally at least 10 miles of nothing except the airport between them.
Now there are 3 roads and the only untaken space is right by the airport runways.
Oh wait it is no longer an airport. It is now an Air and Space Port.
It is 200 miles from Roswell.

Our Region is approximately 250 miles wide by 300 miles long.
Population during non-boom times is about 250,000. During the last major boom from 2011-2015, the population was at least 750,000. Note, those extra people will not be counted in a census.

It encompasses 2 cities and numerous small towns. And a ton of pump jacks.

I use to. I lived in Raleigh for a year. I now live in a suburb of St Louis. When I was a child I lived in St Louis.

We have St Louis the actual city then St Louis county which comprised of suburbs like Ferguson, Clayton, St Ann, Baldwin which everyone is familiar with. Then farther south on the St Louis County line is a few more suburbs which I live in one of them. My town is located in two counties. It use to be a tiny shopping area but it has expanded into quite a town since I left 15 years ago.

There are plenty of DIY videos on Youtube.

I fixed a similar hole in the wall in a previous residence. The hardest part was getting the paint to match.

It still needs to be repaired. Right now I have a calendar covering it. I packed it with paper towels and put packing tape over it to keep any yucky out as it's above my head when I sleep.

I'm okay. The meeting I attend on Wednesday went a little long. I got to talk to someone there who has had training in tragedy counseling. I had a little trouble sleeping last night. Hubby won't let me talk about it all. He gets upset. So it was nice to talk to someone about it.

It turns out the young man lived on this street with his girlfriend. The report said he lived across county. So now I know why he was on this street. The family refuses to believe it was suicide. If that is true then it was reckless driving and had not those trees been there he would have landed in a house with a mother and three kids. The tree is in her yard and they had just gone in and was watching TV when they heard the crash. She called 911. Some of the family isn't being very nice to her. The lady is trying to raise money for a stop sign or speed bump to be put in. The family has put up a GoFundMe page as they don't have the expense for funeral costs.

This could have been much much worse. I really hope they get a speed bump in we have too many children walking the streets and too many hot rodding around here.

Preparing for another scorcher of a day. Temperatures are expected to rise to 33C today. Since Thursday is the day I always run some errands I've already applied SPF 50 sunspray. Luckily I only have to work until 2pm today, after that I plan on putting on lighter clothes and probably read most of the afternoon and/or take a long nap. I'll be glad when on Monday temperatures will go down to 22C.
