Sadly craft store for me is Joanns or 80 miles one way to I think it is Michaels. BUT Michaels is close to my small store I get glass. Unfortunately I need big bucks in hand when I go to buy glass cause I just can not resist buying this sheet or that. I do the driving when we get into the cities. Hubby just not up to it now. |

In answer to your question,
I know it will hold at least 16,000. |

I just took a recliner to the dump. It was old and broken down. I am re-building a very vintage chair. Fortunately it will easily fit where the recliner was. Hoping to get going on it today. I found a second break in the arm while sanding and had to stop everything and pin and glue the crack the other night. No time yesterday to get back to it.
I hope you find the perfect place for your chair. |

OHHHH thanks. I do not know how many I do have but I will check it out. Would really be nice to have one unit holding all my books. I just wish there was a good way to put them to category with out having to become a librarian. I have several categories of books.

I also have a physical collection of cookbooks. I really need to be reorganizing them too. So what are your categories? |

PHEW Lets see if I can remember them all. Oils and herbs Mysteries Paranormal The book "The Sisterhood" has romance in it but it is not a total romance book it is more historical kind of novel? If you have read it you would understand what I am trying to say. Not sure what category that would go in. I have several like that. It was/is an audio book I have. Light Romance NOT those series kind. I can not remember the name right now. DIY Health Animal Mabe cooking. I do not have many but a few. I am on a restricted way of eating and hubby does not eat much that needs a recipe. :'( Comedy Maybe options to add a category I might have /probably have forgotten above. I also have about 300 audio books on an external I down loaded for free awhile ago. I listen while I am working in my studio when I can. ![]() |

Whether you need to root your device is another matter. If the only thing I did with my tablet was use it to display eBooks, rooting would be unnecessary. The stock device would do it fine. One reason for rooting was wanting to get rid of various things that came pre-installed by the vendor. I don't want the Wild Tangent games store, or the Blio eBook store/reader, but they were installed as system apps and could not be removed by the standard add/remove apps routines in Android. Another was that rooted, I could set things up to store programs on the external card and run them from there. The scarce resource on the models I have is space to store programs, and I exhausted that within about two days on the earlier model I had before this one. If the RCA runs Win10, rooting is irrelevant. Windows works differently than Android. Quote:
One concern to be aware of: FBReader does not handle books with DRM. I don't get eBooks with DRM, so I don't care. If you have titles with DRM, you will need to install something like the Kindle or Nook apps to open and view them. (If you use Calibre to manage your eBook library and place books on your device, it can remove DRM using third-party plugins. They are not shipped with Calibre to avoid legal issues, as simply having them is illegal in some jurisdictions, but are easy enough to find.) Quote:
![]() It will be a function of the average size. If what you primarily read is fiction, I'd call 500-600KB an average file size. For non-fiction, all bets are off. I have some PDFs, for example, that are in the 100MB range. I do not try to read them on the tablet. A 7" tablet is ill suited for PDF files in the first place, and a 100MB PDF would take a good approximation of forever to open. I have multiple thousands of books on the tablet, and that's a subset of the full collection in Calibre on the desktop. I think I've used about 12GB of the card thus far, but there are a few videos, MP3 files and other things stored there as well, so it's not all eBooks. Quote:
I looked at the Fire back when, but it had no slot to add an external microSD card. That made it unsuitable for me. Quote:

It appears I did my math wrong. So way more fiction books than I assumed. If I remember my conversions correctly.

Calibre uses metadata to organize the collection. The default display is a grid, with each row a book. It displays author name, title, date added to the library, file size, tags, series, and publisher. Calibre can go on line to Google, Amazon and other sources to get metadata and fill in the blanks. Tags are the critical part, and you can use them to classify eBooks by type, with a search function to display all eBooks of that type. If you have books that are part of a series, you can add a series title, and which number in the series the book is. Calibre assumes you will download eBooks to the machine it runs on, and use it to add them to your device. I run Calibre, connect my tablet via a USB cable, and tell it to connect to the device. It connects to the device, and builds a list of books already on device from metadata it stores. Books already on device shows as checks in a new column in the Calibre display. I can select books that aren't currently on device I might like to read on it, and tell Calibre to transfer them to the device. Once there, I can have FBReader rescan to build the list it uses, and the new books will show up in FBReader. See http://calibre-ebook.com for downloads and documentation. ______ Dennis |

The Kindle my friend sent to me does hold an SD card. I think she said it is 128GB. The Nook is 16 GB and I do plan to send it on to Mom. NO I am not positive how to clear it. I was thinking to look up taking it back to factory settings. Then setting it back up in her name and address. Get her an email address then ship it off and let my brother and sister help her go as far as she wants with it. It is all in my mind to do but I have not acted on it yet. I do not have anything on it I would mind loosing. Well I did d/l Calabre on my Nook but never got to play with it much. Now it is going away so I will see about loading it on the new RCA for my books. I also found the FB-reader for windows for that tablet. So anxious for winter to arrive so I have more time to play with my toys. I did have some PDF on my 7" Kindle but found I did not need them. An office program would be good and I seriously considered open office for the RCA. I need to chart hubbies days of foods and how he is doing. Then I would not have to print it all out for the dietitian. She can just read it off the tablet. ![]() |
