Went to a professional development seminar in Peoria today. It was on revolutionary marketing for libraries, and was highly entertaining. Ate at a Bob Evans, which I'd never had before (they don't exist in Texas and the nearest one to me is, well, Peoria, to which I'd also never been until today). Just ate dinner (chicken kiev and baked potato) and am now fighting sleep. I got up at the ungodly hour of 5:45 a.m. So glad I have a late shift tomorrow and so can sleep in.

Hi, Rumpelteazer! I hope they work out for you! Chris is our audiophile, and he's not happy with the stereo system in my new car. It is also Bose, and he insists it sounds tinny, but I don't get that at all, and am enjoying it.
Chris is correct, but you would have to do an actual audio comparison between Bose and a competitor to hear the difference and understand what you are missing.

What Rumpelteazer wants is noise cancellation, which is somewhat different from accurate reproduction of source material. Bose might be fine for her. (Sennheisers are "gold standard" in headphones, and what I'd look at first if accurate reproduction was the deciding factor.)

I worked in retail, a long time ago, but I wasn't in a customer facing job.

Baskin Robbins is a franchise operation, and the BRs around me seem to be operated by Indians. It's the sort of thing immigrants can do with minimal fluency in English. My local ones are combo Dunkin Donuts/Baskin Robbins outlets. (I'm not sure stand alone BR outlets exist now.)

The staff are courteous enough, though there are occasional challenges in placing orders due to low fluency in English. I do need to have a conversation with the one a block from me about their signage. The sign on the door says they are open till 8pm Saturday and Sunday. They actually close around 6. Er, might want to change your sign to reflect reality?

It's always a treat when local parents/caregivers bring little kids in for ice cream. Happy kids...

Going through my Amazon wishlist. There were almost 100 books on it, some of them were on there for years. I'm reading all the blurbs and deleting what isn't available anymore or what I'm not interested in anymore.

Trying to find the energy to move. My day went completely opposite to plan, not that I'm complaining, mind you. I was planning on doing as little as possible. Yeah, right. Ended up going out to a surprise Mother's Day lunch, and going a little nuts at the local garden center. Now that I've planted all of it, I am so sore I can barely move.

I'm up way too early for my day off. We're switching telephone providers (land line) and today the new telephone box/router will be installed. The guy will come somewhere between 8am (now) and 1pm. Since I'm apparently the Keeper of the Codes my father wants be to be there to write down the codes.

Since it's still cool at the moment I've decided to do some useful things.

And I've just opened the door for the mechanic/technician. I'm glad he's early. Now I have to go downstairs, to keep my busy I'll be taking the new light fixtures I bought for over my desk and adapt them to suit my needs (shortening the wire and changing the connection thingies).

I made a mistake by looking on the website for The Sims 4 and watching several videos. They've improved building mode (my favourite part of the The Sims) a lot compared to The Sims 3.

The only problem is that my 6 year old computer will not handle the game. I would need to upgrade both the processor and graphic card. Adding to that that my onboard soundcard has a tendency to cut out semi regularly. It looks like it's time to get a new PC.

There's a small, independent computer store nearby. They sell both parts and systems. The systems they've got listed only have onboard graphic cards, so I'll have to discuss if it's an option to get one of their systems and add a graphic card or have them build a custom system for me (which would mean a lot of research for me).

I spent way too much time outside yesterday. My allergies are showing their disapproval! Just a few errands to run today, and it's turned off cool and cloudy. Hope it rains later, so my new plants will get watered.

Just took our new(ish) Shark Rotator vacuum cleaner for a test drive! Smooth ..... Kind of frightening how much cat hair it pulled out of the carpet (vacuumed on Saturday with our old Dyson purple monster)

In that case, make sure the cat herself is far, far away! (Not usually a problem with my cat, but maybe yours is the curious type .... )

I've just ordered a Kindle Voyage and premium leather origami case. Eta is Friday or Saturday, though iirc last time I got it quicker than initially predicted.
