Crivens!
![]() I went out tonight to inspect the lawn as to its needing mowing this weekend ... and the juniper bushes bordering the lawn are LOADED with orb webs - each with a HUGE gold & black spider in the center. Webs are also located on both sides of the driveway. Taking out the trash will be a death defying experience! I backed away from the lawn slowly, alert for sudden movements! Waily! Waily! Waily! ![]() Why, yes - I did just finish reading Terry Pratchett's last novel ... why do you ask? ![]() |

I've packed most of my stuff for tomorrow vacation to Krakow. I only need to pack my chargers and some toiletries that I still need to use tonight or tomorrow morning.
I'm now waiting for the rain to stop so I can go to the bank to deposit the money I got for my birthday into my account. Later this afternoon my sister and I are going to run the last couple of errands. We've booked an apartment in the old city centre. Hopefully it's as good as the pictures and description make it out to be. |

Looks like a great apartment.
I've never been to Krakow myself, but my father in law visited there a year or so ago and thought it was a really good place to visit. |

We are enjoying our stay in Krakow.
Yesterday was our first full day and we had a busy programme. In the morning we first went on a free, 2.5 hour walking tour of Krakow's Old City. There was a big group and we got split up, each in a different group. My tour guide was great; funny and very informative. After the tour we had lunch and booked our tickets for a trip to the salt mines for Saturday. My sister wanted to visit two churches after that. We finished earlier than we expected and decided to visit the Rynek Underground museum. Which shows the history of mainly the Main Square and surroundings through archeological finds. After that we went to do some shopping and then home to relax. Today we're going to visit Auschwitz-Birkenau. Looking forward to it isn't the right word, but it's something we both find important to visit. Eating and drinking is, of course, not allowed. But the tour will last 3.5 hours and temperatures are predicted to reach 32C, so I hope bringing a bottle of water will be allowed. |

It was. Especially with what some current politicians are saying.
After two busy days we're going to take it easy today. Later this morning we're going to visit Wawel Castle and the dragon. After that we're going to relax at the apartment before having an early dinner at a popular Polish restaurant. If it's still dry (enough) tonight we're going to do the macabre walking tour. |

It's our last full day in Krakow. My sister's going on one final tour of the Jewish district. Having done four tour of over two hours since Wednesday I've decided to skip this one. This afternoon we're going on a last shopping trip to the Galeria Krakowska. I'm debating whether or not I'm going to buy the Swatch watch I've been wanting for a while now.
Tomorrow we're going to be picked up by the car service of the apartment company to be dropped of at the airport. I really like Krakow and I definitely want to come back. |

We got home yesterday and it had just started to rain. Today looks a little better (so far) and I'm now preparing to go back to work. First thing to do is to clean up my work bench and my bit of table. After that a big order that came in yesterday is ready to be processed. |

Slightly worried about the electric kettle I ordered yesterday. It was supposed to be an item that if you ordered it before 9pm you would receive it the next day.
I didn't get a shipping notification, I did get an email with the invoice this morning. And when I check the status website it just says that the order has been processed, no shipping date. What makes me even more worried is that the kettle can't be found in the webshop anymore. |
