I disagree. I like the simple design. They aren't my favorite Dune covers, but they are good ones, to me.

My favorites were the ones with the swirly writing and primarily brown cover scheme. These:

I liked all the Frank Herbert covers with this design. They really made his books stand out.

I also like the cover from when the movie was released. Say what you will about the movie, it was absolutely beautiful.

The first six books are on sale for $2.99 at Amazon US ($1.99 for the first one):

Thieves World
Tales from the Vulgar Unicorn
Shadows of Sanctuary
Storm Season
The Face of Chaos
Wings of Omen

These are normally $9.99 so this is a great deal.

Related, although I don't know if these are sales, are good prices on a couple of the novels:
Shadowspawn is $2.99
The Complete Lythande is .99

Edit: these are fantastic books; they're collections of short stories in a shared world, told from the perspective of the seedy underbelly. They were dark and edgy fantasy way before that was cool. I highly recommend them and am thrilled to see this many back in print. Open Road published these in February, hopefully they do the rest.

Sadly Kobo CA and Amazon CA don't have the other 5 books on sale. The local library had the 2 omnibus volumes of the first 6 books but it's no longer available. Blasted ebook expiry.

The Complete Lythande is not a Thieves World novel. It is just as the title says the complete Lythande stories from Marion Zimmer Bradley's long career and I don't remember her ever writing in the Thieves World universe.
