I would be interested in reading that. I have a life long fascination with WWI and always find it extremely interesting to read about what was going on in the rest of the world.

I'm exploring it very much from the point of view of the people left behind - wives left to run farms when married men were conscripted; families with sons and brothers at the Front, waiting and worrying from letter to letter, dreading a telegram. And the aftermath - the men who did come home, but came home broken in body or spirit. New Zealand had one of the highest casualty rates of any combatant nation.

Shadow Hunter is going to take a break. Something else has caught my attention. And it's itching to get out.

So - I'm officially announcing that I will begin "Night Watch" today. Here's the cover copy.

Quote:
Fifty years after the Delta Wars, the world as we know it is changed. Elves, Dwarves, and Orcs fight for scraps of land that the dregs of humanity have long claimed. Leaders scramble to save the world from walking weapons of mass destruction. With the Earth raped and humanity grasping at straws for survival, new terrors emerge.

Tranquility City was a place of paradise. In a time since past, people would come from all around to see its sights. Now it stands hollowed and empty, a ruin of days gone by. Scattered lawmen struggle to maintain control of a city swallowed by blight.

Darwin, an outlawed mage, leads a pack of roving bandits. The streets cry out in fear. He owns this city. But, there’s one problem with being king. Someone else always wants it more.

Wolf wants one thing. Justice. Constantly hunted through the gullies of Tranquility City, he finally strikes back. And in an instant, the hunted becomes the hunter. But there’s always someone bigger, someone meaner. Genocide always has its consequences.

Enter Alpha, first class of the new Watchers. He stands alone in defense of the few that still call the city home. But one night, one call, can change your life in a matter of seconds.

These three all have something in common.

And it’s hungry.

I have three complete novels that I'm rewriting.

1) A first person afterlife novel called Lethe
2) The sequel to Xenolith (creeping up to 98k words as I flesh things out)
3) Xenolith, which I'm tweaking after discovering some lapses in quality and character neglect. Nothing invasive, just subtle enhancements and streamlining and clarifying some awkward phrasing.

RIP Robert - what's your SCI-FI book about?

I finished an adult fiction novel over Christmas break. It's going to be a love/hate book if it ever gets published. It's about a team of ex-military guys who in their spare time like to raid places where animals are abused for entertainment. They dispose of the perps with very inventive and utterly cruel methods. Animal lovers with embrace it. Others will most likely put a contract out on me.

I'm 125 pages into a Y/A novel about a kid with a very peculiar dragon - not your normal dragon story at all.

Thanks for the space - KEEP WRITING!

Kestral 3: 12 chapters... 30,000 words... and about a quarter of my way through the outline (not that it's a direct correlation, mind you). I've already gotten in some fun passages, and the newly-introduced characters are shaping up nicely.

I've finished the bulk of my input for Read an E-Book Week, though I will probably be helping Rita with a bit more content for 2010. (Don't forget to download your promotional banners!)

Starting a new science fiction novel. Still writing up backgrounds, mini-stories, and juggling new ideas to include into the story. So far a very rough draft about 300 words and a page into Chapter 1. The excitement is just starting to wear off and I'm hoping I don't run into a block. I even made a front cover for the book, though it's still not quite complete. Working title is: Concordia.

Scrapped the last sci-fi novel I was writing when I got stuck for over a year after about 90 (8.5" x 11") pages. Subsequently lost the latest copy of it two years ago when my computer's hard drive decided to die.
