It's got a bit warmer in Wales. (About 7C) But, to compensate, there are huge gusts of wind and torrential rain, which seems to be falling in almost horizontal sheets.

We've been getting heavy gusts of wind and intermittently torrential rain. Then it eases off for a while to lull us into a false sense of security before starting back up again - the yeti went out to fiddle with something in the car in one lull, and got soaked in the few seconds it took him to come back inside!

Yes, exactly the same thing happened when I went to get something from the shed.
Tomorrow I'm not going out at all, if the weather stays like this.

And that sounds like a sensible plan, Patricia. Definitely the weather for staying in and reading or something.

i don't have a shed, but i did procrastinate going grocery shopping until it was too late and the shops were closed.

luckily i bought bread yesterday, everything else can wait. it's been a bit rainy here but nothing like what you guys are getting !

i hear the wind starting to pick up here. i hate it when it's windy at night ; my bedroom window is on a very small inside courtyard, and the wind ricochets around and makes a lot of noise. it's like farking wuthering heights when it gets going. i hope it will calm down before i go to sleep.

it's usually not scary, just distracting and hard to fall asleep. particularly since it's usually intermittent. so just when it's quiet and you're finally falling asleep, it starts howling again. plus the noise is irritating in a sneaky, insidious way.

Maybe it's because I live in the woods, but when it gets really windy I get scared

I sleep with the TV on though, so it would probably drown out the noise. Have you tried earplugs?

oh right, that's probably reason number one i like living in the city. in an appartment building. with other living people nearby (dead sincere). i would be scared witless by wind if i were living all alone out in the woods. i would hate sleeping with the TV on ! i like quiet when i sleep. i do have earplugs, against the SHUMS. but i only use them when i have to because i find them really uncomfortable. plus they make my ears hurt. and you can still hear the noise some anyway.

I can't handle quiet when I sleep. I think it helps distract me.
