An acquaintance of mine works in advertising. Some time back, he called his then girlfriend and asked "What animal spits" "A camel." "No, more disgusting than that!" "A llama." "Perfect!"

So the next time his phone rang at the small agency he was working for, he answered "Llama and Weasel. How may I help you?"

The partners of his agency were apparently well enough described that the response was hysterical laughter before the caller hung up.

Add a pile of catnip, and you're all set. (You're going to be partying. Why shouldn't the felines?)

Probably. Though from what I've heard, they aren't the worst creatures you'll find in the business.

But they paid him, and while he has mad skillz as a production guy, he has personality traits that tend to shorten his tenure at employers, like an implicit "Anything good is my doing; anything that isn't is someone else's fault" attitude, and a bad habit of trying to advance himself by stabbing others in the back. The trouble with that tactic is that sooner or later, someone you shafted will be in position to shaft back and overjoyed to do so. Such folks tend to have a meteoric rise and equally dramatic fall at companies that employ them.

Got it in one.

I've worked with him on hobby projects, and he tried to shaft me, too, though not successfully. I already knew what I was dealing with.

It's a pity. We have complimentary skills on various areas, and I'd love to work with him. But I can't trust him to work with me rather than against me.

I know a little about his background, and my guess is that he's terrified of being abandoned, so he deliberately pushes others away before they can do it to him (which is what he assumes will happen.)

We spoke in the phone some time back, and he mentioned that his ailing cat had died. It apparently managed to hang on till he got home, so it could say goodbye and die in his arms. I wanted to cry. Possibly the only thing that genuinely loved him was gone from his life.

So I think sadly of the waste of human potential he represents, and the good things he could accomplish if he weren't one of the emotional walking wounded. But I also keep a distance and avoid more than casual contact.

Thank you. Yes, the kitties will get nip and vanilla ice cream tomorrow evening. That's what passes for party fare for my cats.

I've got a melon baller that I use to make perfect little scoops for them, and put them in glass bowls.

The doggies will get humongous bones, and likely either ice cream or peanut butter.

Yup ... I worked with someone like that. Problem was, he always took credit for my work. However, at some point I got really tired of that and left. Suddenly, his work took a nose dive because I wasn't there to do it for him anymore.

It felt good.

Yeah, I've had that experience, too. I've also been blamed for the failure of others (not being "supportive" enough).

Right now what I'm doing is waiting for a 47Mb file to load into my 3d software so I can try to get the next several manga pages done....

Hm... I thought we had a "fingers drumming impatiently" smiley....

Unless the little monsters develop some mean doorknob skills while I'm out at the party tonight.
You have llamas in your pantry? I've heard of bats in the belfry (even said of me once or twice by the way) but never have I heard of llamas in the pantry. And when did they master the door knob principle?

Although I'm not totally a power tools person (aside from a grinder I want and the mulcher I have; I prefer big unpowered tools, like axes and mallets and sledgehammers and pruners and crowbars and FUBARs and LARTs and hammers and tree saws and pickaxes and pitchforks and boltcutters and sickles and scythes and...) I'd still know I'd had a good birthday if I got power tools.

Happy birthday, Ricky. Goodonyamate!

Incidentally, but somewhat appropriate, I think you might like this recent commercial for Supercheap Auto:
