I have no personal opinion on the first book. I have heard nothing negative about it. That probably means that it's good, especially since the paper book and ebook both have been very widely distributed.

I have read the abridged edition of the second book. David Platt, the author, and his writings are highly regarded in some ecumenical circles. But this book is palaver, imho. The most that you could lose would be a little bit of time from downloading it and the amount of time that you listen to it, though, since the audiobook is free.

Earlier today, this morning, I was reviewing my wish list on Audible, looking for another purchase towards the Listener Rewards promo, and so I know the normal member prices were still showing then.

This evening, _everything_ and I don't just mean Kindle Matched books but everything in my wish list is showing a Sale Price. And not only my wish list, it appears to be across the board.

Oddly, there is no banner or other hint on the Audible home page.

(lets put everything on sale and not tell ANYONE -- brilliant marketing ploy)

I just checked my wishlist and everything on it is on sale, too! The discounts are modest--it looks like 50% or so is about the largest discount--in my way of thinking.

I wonder if I were to put something into the wishlist now if it would also show a discount. I'm going to play around with it and see what happens.

It's good timing for me--I just received my $10 credit for the B4G10 promo.

A recommendation at Audible: "The Great Courses" courses. They are already cheaper, for the most part at least, than you can get them for in the better sales that the Great Courses has. The discount now makes them about as cheap as you can ever get them, anywhere, to my knowledge.

Just snagged one of the The Great Courses titles that I had on my wishlist. I'm anxious to listen to it. I've got a long driving trip to make this coming week; I may burn the course to CD in order to listen to it on the road!

Its a little odd as I have a stack of Laura Lippman, CJ Box, Robert Crais, John Sandford and Thomas Perry also Girl on the Train all of which are showing as discounted but none of which appear when you follow the spring sale link. Also the sale appears to be members only as I run another non member account and none of the are reduced there

There are three comments/other things that I want to say--the first two might actually be (marginally) useful; the last one is connected with a special contest. Instead of making three separate posts, I'm going to do it all in this one. (it's the second choice in the old "spread the pain out, or get it all over with at one time" conundrum. ha.)

One is about the Audible sale.

Apparently, not just the full-fledged Audible members are eligible, but also those (like me) of membership ilks like the ListenerLighters. I'm a ListenerLighter, and I am eligible. But, it could be just that Jeff Bezos likes me.

Okay, I know that none of you have been waiting with bated breath for the contest. ha. Well, here it is, anyway. The first person to come up with the correct answer will win a very special prize!* The contest begins with a story.

A company which sold both paper books and ebooks had a habit of using any possible occasion (like clearancing old merchandise to bring in new merchandise) or specious excuse (like some marginally noteworthy holiday or other special day of the year) to conduct a sale.

Well, one day, their ruses were exposed for what they were. The company advertised, in an email message to customers, a clearance sale on a large selection of ebooks.

Think you know the answer? Then, send it in! The announcement of the winner will be in maybe a day or two or something.


* In the event of a tie, or something out of the ordinary like that, a panel of judges (well, okay, it's just me. ) will the final arbiter as to who wins, blah, blah, blah.

And it's true, every one of my wishlist books is on sale for 50% off. Of course, since I'm a regular member, that's really only a 20% savings over what they give me anyway. but still, worth a look.

I haven't checked my email, but I can tell you that not all of the audiobooks on my wishlist have been marked down that much. Most, if not all, are at least 40%, though. I wonder what's going one. Maybe as a L.L. member, I don't get as much of a discount on some? Maybe I'll have more complete information after I read my email from Audible.

Well, I was going to post about this on Friday, as I kicked off the countdown to Sync, but someone beat me to it. As posted here in a non-sticky independent thread, you can get a couple of free audio titles from RadioArchives. From the homepage, click on the "audiobooks" icon (or just click the link here) to see the link for "The Spider: Rule of the Monster Men." Also from the home page, click "Old Time Radio" to see the link for "The Adventures of Philip Marlowe Vol. 3." Guess I'll have to find some other nugget for Friday...
