I just got my big Stampin' Up order in and unpacked and checked everything.
I can't wait to get creative with it on Sunday (I have to work this afternoon and tomorrow all day). The only problem now is where to store all my new stuff, it doesn't fit on the shelves of my bookcase I reserved for crafting stuff and neither does it all fit in my crafting bag. It looks like I really have to start cleaning out my step-in-closet. A nice task to start on Monday. |

I would have thought they could have soaked it in water or something. Blowing them up seems a rather drastic solution. Perhaps they just wanted to see things go boom. We all like that. |

Watching Comic Relief, I love the Little Britain sketch featuring Stephen Hawkins and the Behind the Bond sketch. The films make me tear up, I have to donate money to Doctors without Borders tomorrow.

I had planned on going to Antwerp for a couple of days from the 27th of April, partially to escape King's Day. I had already selected a hotel (but I didn't book it yet) and had planned on visiting some stores to get stuff that is hard to get in my own town.
That is until I was browsing the website of a holiday park chain and came across this cottage. I wouldn't mind staying there for a midweek. It's a bit more expensive than Antwerp, but it's one night more. The only thing that's holding me back is that the park isn't easily reached by public transport. I have to take the train, change to a bus and transfer to a second bus. Which isn't practical with a suitcase. Antwerp I only have to change trains once. What to do ![]() |

It does.
However, I've just found another problem. There isn't a supermarket at the park. There is a lunchroom/restaurant, a snackbar and a "breakfast shop" (I assume they sell fresh bread and maybe some cheeses, sweet spreads, ham, etc. However, they do offer an online supermarket, where you can order stuff and it will be in your cottage when you arrive. Not all of their parks have this but I did use it once in another park, I mostly ordered heavy stuff (soft drink, wood for the fireplace, etc). But I just had a look at the selection on offer for this park and it's disappointingly small. In the fruit & veg section only four different kinds of tinned veg are available, no fresh fruit. Normally it wouldn't matter, my father would normally drop me off and I would have been able to take groceries with me. But this is one of the few Mondays he can't leave since it's King's Day and he wouldn't be able to get back home due to closures for the festivities. And I can't see myself lugging around now only a suitcase but also a bag of groceries first on the train and then on two buses for the 3 hours the trip takes. So at the moment it looks more likely that I'm going to Antwerp, though I'm still thinking. |

Think in 'camping' terms... Instead of a suitcase, a backpack. I've often traveled for several months at a time with just what I could carry in a rucksack. You don't need a party dress, nor more than two changes of underclothes for three days, a spare shirt and slacks, and toiletries. You can carry all that in a large handbag! A rucksack would be roomy! Roomy enough for camping foods.
These days, we don't live out of tins of beans and sardinese when backpacking. 'Beef Stroganoff,' "Pineapple Chicken," "Chicken Tika," "Salmon and Potato in Dill Sauce," "Louisiana Red Beans and Rice," "Herbed Mushroom Risotto," "Italian Pepper Steak," ... the list of modern camping foods is endless... and all you need to do is add boiling water. No cooking. Even the Creme Brule, mint chocolate chip ice cream, and apple cobbler taste wonderful! All these can be bought either on line or at large camping stores. Don't let inaccessibility stop your adventure! Stitchawl |

I've never tried camping food, now you've made me very curious and I will need to visit the camping store to get some to try out. But I'm still leaning towards Antwerp over the log cabin.
My tablet is truly dead. Since it's died 354 days after I bought it it should still be under warranty. I've contacted the store and they have already emailed me the forms and shipping label I need to ship it back to them (for free). So hopefully it won't cost me a thing. However, I'm adjusting better than I thought to life without my tablet. I'm actually liking not being able to check email, internet, weather whenever I want to. Instead I spend most of the afternoon reading uninterrupted, almost finishing the book I started last night. Later tonight I'm going to watch one or two films and I won't be distracted by emails, looking up things and YouTube. I'm hoping I'll get my tablet back soon, but this break isn't all that bad. |

Just finished an afternoon of cleaning storm debris from the lawn ... and then bush/hedge trimming Part 1: trimming away from sides of front sidewalk and sides of driveway .... whew! I'm winded .... learned to do chores in chunks - to survive them - only got overheated whilst using the bow saw on some large woody branches ... off to the heating pad now ...

I do nearly all of the shopping and cooking around here, but my son likes to try when he's home and my wife helps. So, here I am, sitting in the living room listening to pots and pans dropping on the table, occasional gasps and exclamations of "Oh, damn!"
Well, it's a tofu stir fry. What could possibly go wrong? |
