That sound similar to many recent YouTube story videos about humans and aliens. They seem to fall into two categories: (1) Aliens find out that you should leave humans alone*, and (2) a human man and a beautiful alien woman meet and fall in love.

*In one story aliens are terrified of a horrifying creature. Only the human is unafraid of the creature, it's an ordinary Earth housecat. In another, the aliens are terrified of a hydro weapon, and are shocked when a human drinks out of it: it's a bottle of water.

I'm guessing all those who sneer at and loathe romance have no time for that huge Yorkshire man with a beard like a rhododendron bush - Jane Austen. Especially since works like Persuasion (my 5-star fave) and Mansfield Park especially are mixed genres. I mean cutting social satire with soppy romance drivel? Ugh!

It's basically a "Love Boat" type book. There's an opening scene which sets things up, three separate but related stories in the middle, and then a closing scene which ties everything up.

The kind of romance novels I don't care are ones that are set in the far past, say before the 20th Century.

I have a 800 megabyte PDF from a comic bundle I purchased. Only 106 pages, and not oversized pages. The other comics, around same length, are ~150 megabyte each. WTF?

I can't help getting a Green Eggs and Ham vibe from your frequent disparaging comments about Pride and Prejudice. You don't know why you don't like it or why you think the writing's bad. Even the book covers made me think that two stars could be a stretch. But then you could get into "so bad it's good" territory, or at least funny in small doses.
