Nope, both are swimming, decapod crustaceans.
Both have little bitty ones... Actually, prawns have them on the first three legs, shrimp only on the first two. So let's call that ONE of the required three... (No, Anh, the different names do NOT count!) Hint: One of these is easily noticeable to non-biologists. Stitchawl Last edited by Stitchawl; 09-10-2011 at 04:04 AM. |

What's a pentgon?
I don't think anyone is going to know this answer without googling. I looked it up and it's not the easiest thing for a non-subject-matter-expert to discern even looking at them. |

The technical term is actually octopuss-puss.

A 'pentgon' is a spelling mistake for 'pentAgon,' a five-sided equilateral geometric shape.
An octopuss is an octopus that stutters... (sea creature with eight legs) Only to James Bond Not to me. There were quite a few spelling mistakes in that list when I copied and pasted it from Wiki. I thought I corrected all of them, but I guess I missed a few. Of course, it is also possible that there is such a thing as a 'pentgon' and 'octopuss' and I just don't know about them... ![]() But back to our crustaceans... another hint: the exoskeleton... Only if you step on one, and then, no softer than prawns... OK, another hint about the exoskeleton... something to do with overlapping shingles... Come on, guys! You've been stuffing yer bellies with these critters for years. Didn't you ever take a close look at 'em? Stitchawl |

No one says, "Don't come the raw shrimp with me".
In New Zealand, shrimp are little wee things that don't have shingles to speak of. Prawns are much bigger. "Prawn" is used for different species in different countries, so it gets a bit confusing. |
