Watching Death in Paradise. It's the best thing to watch to forget the gloomy, grey and stormy weather.

We had 4 dead/dying trees taken out of our yard this morning -- well, 3 were dead, and 1 was starting to lean over the roof. I used Jackson Galaxy's (he of 'My Cat From Hell' fame) Spirit Essences on Stella to keep her from freaking out from the noise of chain saws and falling trees. (http://www.spiritessences.com/?Click=3511) - it sounded hokey to me but the stuff really works! I used the Stress Stopper formula - just put a few drops on her fur before I left for work. Instead of hiding for 24 hours, as she used to do when we had repairmen, etc., she was out ready to eat when I got home! That's a huge improvement. She's still searching the house room by room, but is much less stressed. I originally bought the stuff to mist the carrier before the annual vet visit. I hope it will stop/lessen the non-stop yowling. Sammie has her visit this month - I'll report back if it works. Last year she howled non-stop for the entire visit.

Resting after being on the go today. There was the monthly food pantry trip and then I spent the rest of the afternoon cleaning up and stocking the shelves in the pantry. (Inspections will be coming up in the not too distant future and the apts. are under new management so I'm getting an early start to make sure we do well.)

Enjoying a head-splitting headache and about to eat some pointless food that will stupidly sustain me for yet another day, also wondering what stupid things I will do to spend yet another evening. No reading with the headache so yeah, I don't know...

Oh, that all sounds like a bummer. Maybe a good day to go mindlessly trolling the web instead? Or spend time reading MR threads?

My cats are spoiled ....

How spoiled are they, you ask?

Well, I'm in the habit of folding my pajama pants (thick fluffy sweat pants in the winter) and leaving them on top of the bathroom hamper in the mornings ... so they're conveniently at hand after I take my evening shower. Sammie, my plus-sized pud, who is in the habit of sleeping on top of the hamper (it has a towel on the lid ... as do most horizontal surfaces in the house) decided to use the folded pants as a pillow (see photo below).

Well, today I slept in and decided to eat breakfast in my pajamas. As we sat down to breakfast Sammie began yowling non-stop at the top of her lungs. I looked in the bathroom to see what was wrong -- she was on top of the hamper staring at the empty place where the pants/pillow was supposed to be! But it was empty! And she wouldn't stop yowling! I finally put a spare pair of sweat pants in the correct location - whereupon she promptly shut up and went to sleep -- with her head pillowed on the sweat pants.

It was all my fault of course ... I was late with her pillow ... my bad ...

Yeah but here I like to keep the kitties guessing. They know I won't feed them to the horses. But they are never entirely certain what other games we might play

My sister and I just booked a trip to London in February. She wanted to see Cats (I've seen it 15 years ago in London). She also wants to visit the National Gallery, see the Big Ben and parliament, cross the London Bridge and go on the Emirates Sky Link.

I'm already looking forward to the trip!

Sounds good. When you say London Bridge, do you mean Tower Bridge though? I think London Bridge would be a bit of a disappointment. If you are in that area though, can I recommend Borough Market? It's about 5 minutes walk from Tower Bridge, 2 minutes from London Bridge. Lots of really nice food stalls, including an oyster bar if you like that kind of thing. I used to work near there and go for lunch there regularly.

You're right, I mean Tower Bridge. I'll put Borough Market on the list of possible things to do.

We managed to book a room in the hotel we stayed at last time, London House Hotel. It's in our favourite neighbourhood of Bayswater. The rooms have free wifi, a small safe (so I don't need to carry around my tablet and important papers) and a small fridge. Last time we had a room in the basement, now we booked a room which looks out over the/a garden.

Bayswater's a really nice area and that hotel sounds good. Always nice to have been there before as well so you actually know it's good.

I hope you have a great time no matter what you do.
