Up early today. I woke up at 4 am and was wide awake, even reading didn't make me sleepy. In the end I got up at 7am and made new lists for the coming weeks; what I want to buy at the craft fair next week, things I still need to buy for my vacation the week after, things I shouldn't forget to pack, etc.

Having breakfast while everyone else is still sleeping. Heading to the airport soon. I'm heading to Vancouver this morning, will work all day, stay over and fly early tomorrow to Calgary, work all day there and fly home Sunday night. Should get home somewhere around 1am Monday. Then I have to go to work.

Wondering if I fed the dog or not. I know I meant to, but just can't remember if I actually put any food in the bowl or not. He's kind of hovering around his food bowl, whimpering, but he does that if anyone comes within a metre of it, so that's no help.

Happy that for once an internet craft store (K&Company) based in the US doesn't charge a ridiculous price for shipping.

I'm going to see what I can buy during my visit to the craft fair next week, but if need be I can order their stuff online directly with them.

No, or rather: if you want to. I want to get a Smash Book for stuff I want to keep but not in Project Life or in a big scrapbook.

Carving a new guitar bridge saddle (the white part in the picture) out of a piece of water buffalo leg bone.
Someone gave me a nice Epiphone acoustic guitar the other day but it comes stock with a plastic saddle. Bone or ivory transfers sound much better and just the change to a bone saddle can improve the sound of the guitar greatly. Ivory would be even better but these days it would have to be vintage walrus or mastodon ivory to conform with the laws. Lots of that around but VERY expensive. Some day I'm going to luck into an old broken up piano and scavenge the ivory off the keys. For now, getting buffalo bone is easy, and it's easy to work with. A bit of sawing, a bit of filing, a little bit of sanding and I be set.

I'm feeling a bit silly but I'm so excited for tomorrow's craft fair. Until about 10 years ago my father and I regularly went to computer fairs and the biggest one was always in December in our city. The craft fair is in the same convention complex, a lot smaller ("only" two halls) but I hope even more fun.

I've already made 3 list; what I need, what I want, and what I need to buy for my sister and father. Tonight I'll print out the coupons I want to use. I want to be there shortly after 10am, when they open. But not before because then it will be really busy at the entrance.

My budget has slowly increased over the past couple of weeks; from €100 to €150 to €200-if-I-see-something-I-really-really-want (plus €50 extra just in case).

Until then I'm keeping myself busy by watching craft haul videos on YouTube.

Suffering from whip lash due to inconsistencies in the messages from the green

Exhausted. Don't want to go to the city council meeting that I committed to. I don't mind going in the summer, but when it's dark and I've come home, I really don't like going back out

Just came back from walking with Norton. Norton walked about half the distance I did when I went to vote yesterday. I walked the same distance: a mile and a half. At one point Norton stopped at a driveway where one side featured a fire hydrant and the other side featured a brick mailbox and a cable box. For Norton it was like Doggie Disneyland. He kept going from one to another while I walked back and forth up and down the street waiting or him to lose interest.

How long is his leash? (or don't you use one?) Mine is 10-15 ft or so. I tried your "keep moving while doggy sniffs" trick and only succeeded in making myself very dizzy. Dog was 10ft or so out into the grass, and my turns had to be fairly tight - only a several foot path before I turned again.

So I dropped the technique.

Lately I've been carrying a leash but only using it when my patience is at an end at one of his prolonged stops or when safety requires it, such as when there are other dogs in the area. Norton generally keeps up pretty well, but he can get distracted by other people or children. He thinks everyone is his friend.

Opal thinks everyone is out to get her. She doesn't attack, but she'll bark ferociously, and growl & snap at a dog bigger than herself. (shih tzu) Maybe it's an "I'm tough" stance that all little dogs have learned?
OTOH, it did take a year till she was really comfortable with me, after I adopted her. Maybe she's had a hard life.
Anyway, leash is mandatory. Guess I could try a 50 foot one, or something!

Guess what I got today?

I put it together as soon as the FedEx fellow dropped it off at my doorstep. It's for those days when it's raining or snowing, too hot, too cold, or when the weather is just plain too miserable to go walking outside. The good news is that tomorrow we're suppose to have thunderstorms from before sunrise until after sunset. Hooray! I get to try out my new toy!
