I've just checked through and I can't find any mention of the problem I'm having, so I'm sorry if this is a repeat!

I've just got a new laptop, and I've downloaded Calibre and FFDL but the button to 'update anthology' has disappeared. Am I missing something?

You also have to install the EpubMerge plugin for anthologies.

I was using the wrong server. I had googled for the hotmail server and that is different than the hotmail IMAP server. Once I had the correct one everything worked.

On some platforms, calibre is remarkably fussy about print statements in the code that runs in the background job and that line number is for a debug print when a certain exception is caught.

The attached version changes the print to a proper logging output instead. I don't see these problems myself so I can't promise this will fix it, but I think it will.

I'm grabbing it now, and will report the news.

Edit: since you mentioned that it might be platform specific, I'm on OSX Mavericks, in case that helps with anything.

It appears to have solved my problem, along with the broken pipe error that I was getting now and then randomly.

Tried something different, I turned Avast off and tested again and it worked. Don't know why it's blocking stuff now but now I know why I've been unable to download fics.

Yes, Avast was the culprit. Turned it off temporarily and was able to download the fics. Thanks all.

Googling seems to indicate that this is not the first time Avast has caused network problems.

What are you doing when you get this message? What effect does it have?

It appears to be an error during image processing. FFDL does try to convert images to jpeg and resize them during epub download. You might try adding this to your personal.ini to disable FFDL image processing:

no_image_processing: true

This:

...should only output when calibre first starts. It tells Mac users where they can put a file to activate a special workaround for a specific Mac issue. It's a normal message and doesn't effect anything. Furthermore, it should have appeared well before any possible image processing error from FFDL.

Hi all,

I was hoping Jim would be so kind as to add livejournal.com (LJ) to the supported sites. What I want to do is this:
1) Capture story URLs from a particular LJ page (similar to A03 series capture)
2) Make the links on each subsequent page below (and on down to the ends) chapters within the originally captured story
3) Have the option to anthologize or not using epub merge and still get updates.

The other "solutions" I've found and the problems with them are as follows:

1) Fetch News
a) The existing LJ RSS feed is too complex, and includes all works by the user, not just from a specific page on down.
b) Creating a new RSS feed using 3rd-party software includes all tag associated works from the side bars, not the main frame of the page only
c) I am a novice programmer at best and simply do not understand enough python (willing to learn but it is slow) to adequately write an advanced custom recipe.
d) In order to keep the fics long-term, I'd have to disable the auto-delete function for all of my custom news sources, and that is a huge repetitive time suck step backwards

2) Grab My Books Firefox Plugin did not show the reported "Grab Links" option, which had it been there, might have solved my problem.
