Apparently the new schedule messed me up more than I realized. I slept most of the day, in between fielding calls from the contractor and taking delivery of the new windows. It could also have been stress relief - several ongoing issues have come to resolution in the last few days.
Right this minute, I'm waiting on Chris to get home so I can make dinner. This particular meal must be eaten hot, and does not reheat well, so I've learned to wait until he is actually home to make it. On the bright side, it also doesn't take long to make! |

I've got some bare LED strips for the same purpose, but I've seen some nicely packaged strips, as well. |

It's a bit awkward because of the height if I want to use it as a light box I have to sit on bed or on the floor. |

I'm up early today, my alarm went off about an hour ago at 6am. Around 8am a friend is coming by to hook up the gas heater in my room again. Since it's already taking over a year and a half to get my heater hooked up again I'm not counting on it being finished today though.

I got up earlier than normal this morning. It was still dark and when I returned from the bathroom I heard a ticking noise against the window. I looked outside to see if it was raining but instead saw dozens of wasps crawling upwards against my widow (and often falling down). I also saw a swarm of them around the security lamp of the museum next door, so they obviously were attracted by the light. By the time the sun came up they had disappeared.
I'm still somewhat freaked out by it. |

Here's a photo, at least, so you know what she's talking about. At least, it SAYS it's an IKEA Nordby.

There are 2 places more or less locally that serve incredible fries. I've cut out a LOT of carbs but occasionally get to these places. I ask for no bun, bread or whatever and wallow in fry goodness

Playing with my new 'GoPro Hero 3+,' and drooling over all the accessories that are available for it. It amazing that a video camera this small can take such great pictures. Today I'm going to track down a helmet mount for it, so we can use it for our ride next week.

I'm planning on doing some baking when I'm on vacation next month (the apartment's got a great oven). One of the things I want to make is a big batch of gingerbread cookies. A nearby shop sells packets of ready mixed gingerbread spice and they have the recipe on their website.
The only problem is that according to that recipe you need to use Lyle's Golden Syrup. They don't sell that. There is one store locally to me that sells it but it's sold out and they don't expect the next shipment from the US until mid-November, which is too late for me. Does anybody know if I can substitute Lyle's Golden Syrup for Maple Syrup (which is easier to get)? The full ingredients list: 350 grams flour 125 grams butter, at room temperature 175 grams caster sugar 1 teaspoon baking soda 4 tablespoons Lyle's Golden Syrup 1 egg 3 teaspoons gingerbread spices |

I would say a mix of maple syrup and honey. Can you get corn syrup in the Netherlands? Most of the gingerbread recipes in North America that use liquid sweeteners are a mix of dark molasses and corn syrup.
Check here for substitutions. |
